Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. IU...

So for those that want to keep CKD, how long do we give him to get his players and system going? I understand we don't want to fire someone that has only been here two years. But when it seems all he does is talk around problems, stand on the sidelines looking like he's having a hemorrhoid flare up, with that look on his face, and NEVER make adjustments, what then? Any coach worth his salt should be screaming at everyone after a performance like this. Telling anyone that will listen, this is unacceptable and I'm going to do everything in my power to fix it no matter what it takes.
I don't think you keep hoping that his west coast finesse offense will get going. You just go look, go toughen this team up. That's all there is to it, yes he knows how to have a really good passing offense. That's not the problem.

Now go make a balanced team.

Simplistic reaction.

Cignetti hasn't had to deal with high profile players wanting cash, etc. He's had lightning in a bottle - time will tell if he's a magician (meaning better than Saban) or not. I'd guess more likely not. I suspect Cignetti will suddenly look far more 'normal' after this season's success...
He's going to lose a ton of his experience from graduation and the rest to the transfer portal for big paydays. He'll have to totally rebuild next year through NIL and the transfer portal. I suspect IU will revert.

It makes me sad, because these guys are what college football should be. But, yeah. Lighting in a bottle for a year.

With all due respect, it was most definitely NOT a good season. Maybe for Ole Miss or Auburn or Vandy, but not for Alabama. 3 utterly humiliating losses in one season and a quarterfinal CFP loss do not equal good in my book.

And scary thing it was very close to being much worse (SC, Mizzou, even Vandy could have been losses with just a couple breaks going the other way).

We got to the 2nd round without a running game, a very difficult schedule, and loads of problems. I rather be us than LSU, PSU, ND, Michigan, and a bunch of others.

A good season I think is subjective, so I can see and accept a lot of people don’t see it as good. Which is fine. I think after the FSU game I could give you the final destination and 95% on here would have taken it in a heartbeat. But to each their own.

I will say the grace period is officially over and DeBoer will be up against it next year. So that much is true.

Stop speaking sense and not being prisoner of the moment.

Lots of soul searching and changes needed in the offseason

We can't come into 2026 looking this inept, especially in the trenches

Couldn’t disagree more. I think Mark Ingram was quoted as saying Coach DeBoer was an “out scheme” you Coach and less interested in mental toughness. So I’m curious, do you see Coach D figuring all of this out next year. I’m going to bet we may be having the same conversation next year. Wonder what your feeling will be at that point? Especially if he signs an extension.

I disagree. Bama was made to look weaker, slower, etc due to Indiana's superior discipline and execution.

They've done this all year. I assumes Bama would show up and play well enough for the Jimmys and Joes to make the difference, but I was wrong.

They simply out-executed Bama. They've done this all year.
They made our ass quit. Wonder where they got that mindset?

No, and normally I wouldn’t care. But it is beyond those things now. The way the B1G is going, they will run college football, and that can’t be good for anyone.
The someone needs to man up and stop it. Because it’s not getting done.

What sad is Byrne blew this hire so bad. He had the opportunity to hire Kiffin. I don’t care if he introduced himself as Joey Freshwater or how many rich boosters feelings he hurt.

He was the obvious choice even at that time.

But just like the clowns on here blaming Saban for DeBoer’s utter failure, we were too good to hire Kiffin.

Saban being paid as an advisor of the University of Alabama didn’t want Kiffin at Alabama.

But by God he advised him to take the LSU job while an employee of Alabama.

I hope all you guys are happy because I can honestly say you were and still are WRONG.

Roll Tide anyway.
Circle back when Kiffin actually wins an SEC or National Championship. We will be around.

I think Cignetti might be the best coach in the country.

Having said that, you are only cinderella once. After this season some of his players will develop a sudden interest in money. Cignetti should just tell them to move on and get some angry division 2 player who he can turn into a monster but who knows if that will work consistently.

More critically every AD in the country will be looking at his staff for their next hire to bring them that magic.

Every team he plays will be circling them on the calendar to give them their best game.

It was almost too easy when Alabama won it all in 2009, but Saban said many times winning is one thing, winning consistently is another thing entirely.

Indiana just proved that discipline and execution beat 'talent' every time.

If Bama had been able / allowed to play to potential the score likely would have been the opposite.

But Indiana, despite having lesser talent across the board, out-performed and out-executed Bama all night long.

Kudos to the Hoosiers for an excellently executed game plan.

Here's what's befuddling. Alabama had better athletes and more talent at almost every position on the field but you would never know it watching the game. How does "want", "desire" and "execution" beat all that talent in such an overwhelming way? That is a huge red flag for the coaches and hopefully they recognize it. They just let a team dominate them like never before. I don't think there's been another game where Alabama had the talent mismatch so much in their favor yet the result so opposite. WOW...

Grubb is getting lot of hate but early in the year he was getting a lot of praise how much better he was then we had. Did he forget how to call plays or was he handcuffed with a quarterback that was clearly injured and didn’t have the ability to throw the ball down the field the last 2 months? The offense is designed to throw the ball down the field. Which is what we were doing to start the year.

The last thing I want is the continued change of coaching staff year in and year out. I think that has been one of the biggest issues with Alabama football the last 6 years or so.. We have changed at least 1 to 3 coaches and coordinators. The constant revolving door of styles is not a good thing for teams.
Alabama has not lost by 35 points in a bowl game this century. Enough of the embarrassing losses already and if that means coaching changes then I am all for it.
