Gut feelings and potential don’t mean he is good. Catching the ball as a wr is a low bar especially if you can’t get open. Comparing him to an NFL player from Clemson is not realistic. Obviously bama struggled catching the ball but if a guy can’t get open then doesn’t matter. Guy didn’t beat out anyone in order to get on the field and got passed. Just never seen so much thought on bench players that didn’t even see the field.

13 total catches in 3 seasons.

I said “perhaps”. At this point it seems to be in inability to develop or an inability to evaluate portal talent.
I disagree for many reasons... I'll have to get back with you on this...maybe later on tonight or tomorrow regarding this. I've read so many takes on this on this board in the last 48 hours and some of it concerns me as a fan... regarding takes on CKD and his evaluations on players....

I added in the right coaching fit thread. Delaying a change delays success. He didn’t have to win this year, but there should be a glimpse of the future. The future at the moment is cloudy.

He played in 2 games!!! and is a freshman....this isn't what we need but if this is what we get...we are in a whole heap of trouble...
@denver

Chill. Go for a walk. Breath. Drink a tea. You're overreacting to this. What Bama are doing right now, they're looking for starters to fill the OL, and also are looking for depth as well. They have to revamp the OL room. Stop looking at this from a starter perspective... Look at this from a fit, scheme and culture perspective. It's clearly showing that Bama is working to change the identity in the OL room and they're going to get their guys in.

What Bama are bringing in will be for both reasons: Starter and depth purposes. This goes for WR and DL room. With what Bama are bringing in for visits so far, I'm impressed with that, and they have couple more they're lining up for visits on Wednesday and rest of the week.

Is the Keon Keely (sp?) news true?! If so he’s much better than the guy from usc. This is very frustrating news if true

I think when people speculate on something that they think aren't happening, it doesn't do any good for the fan base as a whole. I see everyone want to see the coaching changes NOW, but nobody is taking in the fact that the staff is focusing on portal additions this week and next week before turning their attention to making changes on the staff. I am 95 percent sure that there will be some changes on OL coach, and maybe ST team changes.

CKD is not a dumb man. He's not clueless on lot of things that happened on and off the field. He knows what needs to change and I feel like he is addressing that through the portal right now and eventually he will do the same with coaching changes... after both of that.. I expect him to change some things up in 4th quarter program and off the field activities to promote physicality, focus, and other.

The fact Team made to SEC Championship and playoff this year and in Year 2 of CKD... even through there was lot going on... and to see the changes are being made... from what I understand.... I expect lot of better things in year 3...

But I do agree that if he knows that changes are needed and he doesn't make those changes... then it won't end well for him.

The bookend performances showed a problem larger than talent or development. It indicated to me that a lack of preparation or lack of control is there. It’s not about patience. The problems haven’t been with impatient progression to the new process. It’s that the process seems like a bad one.

I haven’t seen anything from him that gives me hope. Les Miles kept LSU going for a decade. CKD has seemed to wreck it in two.

So if it’s not development or evaluations, what’s the cause for being unprepared?

Formby and Keeley are shockers.

Figured Formby was a lock to start again, at least at OG. Maybe he only want to play OT, or realizes the OL coach here isn't going to help him develop to his fullest.

Keeley just seemed to be figuring it out. We sunk a bunch of development time into him and he's just now starting to show his promise, with a likely chance at being the guy next year and now he's out.
Formby is a stunner. He is best friends with Proctor and his families restaurant in Tuscaloosa won’t be the same. How can you hang pictures of Formby in an A&M jersey in Tuscaloosa?

I think the amount of transfers, particularly on the OLine, is very telling to me. Sounds like the players know they are not getting the coaching they need. I know some are doing it to hopefully get more money, but...

Visiting Alabama tomorrow.

Are you not entertained?!?!?!?!?
My main concern here is retooling the oline before you retool the staff.

You need to make sure you are identifying the right personnel to address the issues, if you are doing that with staff that can't address the issues, you might be operating with a pretty big blind spot.

I'll feel a lot better when I see some staff changes, and if I don't, well that bad feeling about things will persist.

Having said that, if he saw the field at all for Michigan, he's already probably had better coaching at run blocking than anyone Alabama currently has.
