Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

Or he’s just testing the waters. There’s really no reason not to throw your name out there to see if someone is willing to offer a fortune, or to get more from the current team.
Except that Bama will make efforts to replace so they aren’t caught off guard so the window may not be more than 24-48 hours.

Random thoughts-

I can’t be mad at Richard Young for entering the portal. His recruiting Prowess was second to none.

Had Mbakwe stayed on defense, he could possibly be an All SEC player now.

I expect Austin Mack to hit the portal. He put enough on tape to get a pretty good offer.
I actually think Mack would be an excellent starter at Bama. He knows DeBoer’s offense and throws a good ball.

I know Indiana is having its day in the sun right now. But I dont believe they are going to all of sudden start outperforming OSU, UM, and Penn State perennially in the B10. I would have to see it to believe it. While he may be a good talent evaluator he appears to have the personality of a mall cop.

I think over time some of the NIL boosters will get bored as rich people do with things, certainly if there is no tax benefit for the payments. Its one thing to give kids $10k or $180k (see what i did there) but it's a whole other commitment to sponsor a player for a $1M+ each year with no realistic return on that investment.

Now are the players assigning a certain amount of future earnings to command this level of NIL? That's the only way I see a justification for taking this kind of investment risk.

Reactions: The Ols
This is a Highlights vid worth watching:

I can see why the staff is interested!!

He has very good vision and can quickly find holes on interior runs.

He can also bounce it outside and has Speed to get around the corner.

Looks to have very good hands catching the ball out of the backfield.

He’s pretty good in the open field too. He has some wiggle and you see him trying to set up blocks and has a solid stiff arm.

He shows Homerun Speed on a few plays too.

A lot of attributes missing from our RB group this year.

Hope we get him.

I watched less than 3 minutes......NC State's OL blocked better than ours.

Every other team's OL blocked better than ours.

Until we fix the OL issue I just don't think the RB is going to matter.

what is this sorcery

Sorry; but I am weary of all this stuff.
Teams navigating this is a crap shoot for each year is like who finds the best gift in the Cracker Jack box.
Looking forward to basketball; at least till their portal opens.

Looks like we got Smothers.
Very big addition. Reminds me a bit of Gibbs. This of course doesn't fix all the problems, OL needs to be addressed and the approach to running game needs to be addressed. But, still a very positive sign, I don't think you land Smothers without some assurances you can use him appropriately.

Despite what everyone is saying about portal additions... I really like what the coaching staff are doing so far. It lets me know they are working hard to address the OL and RB room and it's a priority for them to handle that. It also let me know they saw same thing we saw this season and I'm confident they will add the right pieces on OL. Whatever worries I had about the OL and RB, I feel lot better now than I did yesterday. Just gotta be patient and let everything play out.

His name appears to be Daylan.....until sometime after he enrolled at NC State.
It has been Hollywood since like middle school I remember hearing about him when he was at Chambers High school in Charlotte. It was like a Hollywood show during his high school career. He should fit in well with new Nil. He was transferring around back in high school and was ruled ineligible to play because of it his senior year.
