ICE Officer Kills Motorist In Minneapolis

Should she have been there: no
Should she have complied:yes
Should she have been shot given the circumstances: no
If the ice agent had time to pull his gun with intent to kill, he could have simply gotten out of the way.

No matter what else your argument consists of.......she would still be alive today if she had simply complied with law enforcement's request to get out of her vehicle.

Her refusal to obey ultimately set off a chain of events that wouldn't have otherwise happened.

You want to oppose law enforcement? Do it in court - not on the side of the road.

I came across this and found it apropos.
Henry Ward Beecher (brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe) said, “The Federal government is unfit to exercise minor police and local government and will inevitably blunder when it attempts it. To oblige the central authority to govern half the territory of the Union by Federal civil officers and by the army, is a policy not only uncongenial to our ideas and principles, but preeminently dangerous to the spirit of our government. However humane the ends sought and the motive, it is in fact a course of instruction preparing our government to be despotic and familiarizing the people to a stretch of authority which can never be other than dangerous to liberty.”

You're right about if it had been a pro life woman the right would be screaming, but also know the left would be silent. We have become so tribal that most only care about the death of those in their tribe.
Nope, not me. I am absolutely in the tribe of the left but if I see that fellow "tribe folk" are wrong, I will say it.

Two unpopular opinions on the Minneapolis shooting:

1. The woman who died was at fault. She was acting erratically, inserted herself into a dangerous situation, and behaved in a way that put both herself and others at serious risk.

2. The ICE agent acted on instinct and fired too quickly. He should not have escalated to lethal force in that moment. We need full body cam footage to understand exactly what he perceived, but based on the video available, it does not appear his life was in immediate danger as the vehicle was moving away.

The left is already calling this blatant murder.

The right is already claiming the woman was trying to kill the agent.

Neither narrative is accurate.

The woman who died acted dangerously and recklessly, and the ICE agent drew and fired his weapon too fast.

If both sides don’t pause the political posturing and focus on de-escalation, Minneapolis is headed toward another night of chaos just like George Floyd.

ICE should temporarily pull back from the community, and leaders on the left need to clearly and forcefully call for calm and nonviolence.

There’s almost no chance both of those things happen, which means this situation will likely get ugly and Minneapolis could burn again.

I know this take won’t make me popular with either side but it’s just my initial thoughts on situation.

I get it, I've no idea what happened in the moment as even with video footage it's difficult to tell. I can clearly see that her front wheels were spinning while she was still turning them, so the agent in front of the car would have heard the engine rev up as the car started moving.

I'm not defending the shooting, but I believe LEO are taught to stand in front of vehicles to restrict their movement. At the very least it's a commonly used tactic.

If I had to pass judgement on this situation I'd likely find both parties at fault, but thankfully I'm not in that position.

That said, as the post I quoted above said, each side is falling lockstep into their tribal calling.

Saw one of my patients today who is a Sheriff's deputy today. He said you are absolutely taught not to step in front of a car in this setting due to the risk of being run over. Standard is to approach the middle of the car a foot or two behind the driver's seat. You can't be run over easily and they can't turn to shoot at you accurately. He had watched the video and said the ICE agents were clearly untrained and not professionals, and anyone who had appropriate training would not have charge the car in a group without having a reason to do so since she did not appear to be armed or an immediate threat. He thought the woman was clearly wrong in blocking them and should have complied, but in his opinion and experience the ICE agents are a bunch of "untrained thugs". He is a very conservative pro-LEO guy by the way, and clearly believes LEO should be held to very high standards and be professional.

Yep.

And if that woman had had a MAGA hat on the front seat, the very same people telling us it's a tragedy and this guy ought to go to jail would be snickering and saying, "Oh, the irony! She voted for this!"

It still seems to me there were more than the option of agent gets run over or the woman gets killed, though.

Her license plate is plain as day, as blind as I am I can read it. Call Ka$h and send the FBI over.

It's not that I don't think video can be trusted; it's that the video in and of itself can both be made to say what advocates wish AND what they want to deny. (Don't believe me? Look at how many Trumpsters insist 1/6 was something other than it was).

More important is going to be the lead-in and the follow-out.

The Zapruder film is the most famous video ever made.

But what EXACTLY does the Zapruder film prove that we don't already know?
That Kennedy was shot in the head? The dead body proves that.
The number of shots? It's silent.
That JFK was shot from the front? The autopsy and photos prove otherwise except to mental midgets who think a vast conspiracy that met in Madison Square Garden created a bunch of extra evidence using AI in 1963.
Murders are solved in this country every single day with no video and no witnesses.

"But I watched the video"

Hey, everybody, the video shows it, look how high Brooks Robinson leaped.
Can't argue with the picture.
(Brooks himself got a kick out of this).

And the coverup begins....

The FBI is blocking Minnesota state investigators from accessing any evidence related to the killing of a woman by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis.

Drew Evans, superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said his agency had initially sought to investigate Wednesday’s shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good in collaboration with the FBI. On Thursday, the FBI informed the BCA that the U.S. Attorney’s Office had “reversed course” and was solely allowing the FBI to investigate.

That meant the BCA no longer had access to “case materials, scene evidence or investigative interviews necessary to complete a thorough and independent investigation.”

This particular example is less a matter of video's ability to show opposite thangs and more of MAGA's ability to deny reality. You know, like they do with pretty much everything else.

They've started using chemical irritants against the protestors.

Get ready, because here we go. This is what Trump and his supporters have wanted from the begining. Things are only going to escalate, spread to other cities, and Trump will use it to declare martial law and then try to cancel elections this year.

You can see videos of this report on WCCO's YT page, but there is language being screamed in the background. https://www.youtube.com/@wcco

if only citizens would do the right thing and completely defer to the whims of the mango moron, this wouldn’t be needed

As for "almost got hit" I think this angle pretty clearly answers that apparent question:

That's a pretty rough video. I've watched quite few cop videos where cars are driven off and an officer is hit generally shots are fired. Is that video sped up or is it at actual speed?

Edit: watching the lights on the other LEO vehicles I would say it's accurate as far the speed of the video. The lights look like they are strobing at a normal speed for a LEO vehicle.
