Trump policies X

i did not think it was possible for stephen moore to be an even bigger idiot

This reminds me when that PR woman was saying Terrell Owens did not attempt suicide and he had 25 million good reasons for living, which was all dollars.

She got canned hours later.

Here’s the problem: even though we can assume - to a tiny degree - that what the guy is saying is true, you just don’t say that.

If team blue can simply focus on the economic Message and tie it to his tariffs, they can be rewarded quite well at the ballot box in November.

“The reason prices won’t come down is because his tariffs are taxes on the middle class! Also, your health care!”

I heard about Trump's attempt to limit credit card interests rates.
(a) Not sure the president has that power.
(b) The upshot will be that banks decline to issue new credit cards to applicants with poor credit ratings.

Bad policy.
Considering current mortgage rates that are secured by the property and require extensive proof of credit and significant down payment why would anyone make unsecured loans with the inherent default rate at an interest rate only marginally above prime. Past due accounts are up significantely on credit cards, auto loans and mortgages. This at a time where the US is using smoke and mirrors to service US debt with foreign holders are practically dumping it.

I heard recently that Uber Eats will allow you to pay for your meal in monthly installments. That says a lot about American society, right there.

Then the they need to get better at it. If they are going to spend the money they take from others by force then they need to be accountable for what happens to it. That's my biggest gripe. I'm not mad that there are programs to help people. I'm mad that our government is terrible at formulating the programs and terrible at stopping the abuse and fraud. SS and Medicare are going broke, and all of these assistance programs have large percentages of grift and abuse. These NGO's that are taking millions in government money are just a cash cow for the people running them in many cases. The ride has to stop. The problem is anyone trying to stop the ride is a terrible person, racist, or whatever phobe label you can throw at them to keep the money train rolling. The Republicans and Democrats should be ashamed and every one of them should be thrown out of office if not thrown in prison along with a lot of other people that have enabled and taken advantage of the system.

My daughter has a super rare genetic disorder. We got no help of any kind because my wife and I have the audacity to work for a living. We were in a large hospital with our daughter in the NICU and were told by a young doctor we were the only people in the NICU on private insurance. I told her you don't understand I pay for all of this. She looked me dead in the face and said me too. We applied to get help for her there was nothing for her because I had the audacity to have a job. I paid for therapy out of pocket after the visits the insurance would pay for ran out. I paid for expensive medicine. I did it all. You think anyone from the government helped me. HECK NO!!! They didn't care if my child lived or died because I had too much money in my paycheck. I had to cut to the bone to make ends meet back then, and I did it. She's older now and doing much better. My wife had to quit her job to take care of her when she was young and has been able to go back to work now that my daughter is older. The only help I got came from my church. They helped us out more than once and I will be eternally grateful and loyal to that church. So, don't talk to me about the government helping the needy they sure didn't help me when life crashed in on me and my family. If you are disabled in some way then I'm all for helping someone. If you have a short term hardship like a job loss or medical crisis I'm all for helping in the short term, if you are able bodied get up get a job or starve to death I don't really care which you pick.
I know people who have a son with brain damage inflicted during childbirth. They sued but didn't win the case. Defense claimed they get enough money from child disability services. This little boy is in a wheelchair, has cerebral palsey, only consumes nutrition via food tube and gets some education with programs provided at home. He also has microencephaly. Dad works but Mom does not because she is their son's full time caregiver, which means she works all day and most of the night. They have alarms that will wake them if this child is struggling during the night and that happens frequently. The entire family helps as they can. To make matters worse, Mom has recently been diagnosed with MS. Yet, she and their family, along with friends (me, included) help to raise money by way of yard sales and auctions. We will frequently make items to sell. I know this family through my friend, the child's grandmother. Each and every member of the family is high energy. They don't stop. They help with other groups, too, when they can. Grandma, my friend, has always worked with and for charitable organizations, meaning she has seen a lot of awful suffering and hardship and there is far more of that than most people in this country understand.

Something like one in three or four Americans are on public assistance. We are a nation of moochers.
I am. I get Social Security. So I'm "mooching" according to you. I worked and paid into that but, apparently, you think I am "mooching". Before you make assertions, check to see what services are included in that percentage.

Agreed. This is a counterproductive and completely unnecessary case of government interference, per usual. Oddly though, Trump is borrowing from the Bernie Sanders/Elizabeth Warren/AOC playbook on this issue. (Not the first time he's repackaged left-populism as right-populism.) And even more oddly, the lefties here don't like a policy championed by their favorite politicians just because it has Trump's name on it. 🤷‍♂️

fintech disruptors ftw

there is an entire emerging subset of financial technology around "buy now, pay later"

i don't know if rent-a-center survived long enough to get in on this action

I'm uneasy carrying any kind of debt. Even my 3% mortgage - the good kind of debt - bothers me. I can't fathom financing a Taco Bell delivery. A lot of people will be as stupid as they are allowed to be. (Looking at several members of my family.) Ugh.

Sen. Van Hollen: "I am not going to cast a vote, not one dime, to support this lawless, brutal Trump ICE operation unless there are significant reforms to rein in this lawless ICE operation…I don't see the administration doing that, so I'm saying I won't provide any funding."
I'm heartened to here a member of Congress say he will cut off funds to anything federal. I wish there was a lot more of this. I would also wish he would follow through and actually do it.
