Any other rumblings about a #2 coach for the OL coming in? Any other staff changes expected - around RBs, Special Teams?
All good questions that no one knows. I suspect this will be the only staff change and other coaches will be shuffled or an assistant brought in.Any other rumblings about a #2 coach for the OL coming in? Any other staff changes expected - around RBs, Special Teams?
That's exactly why the NFL recycles coaches...because of "fit".MacDonald sure seemed to think Grubb was the problem. He didn't mince any words about him when he let him go. He said he was a talented OC but his philosophy and vision for the offense didn't match up with what he (Macdonald) thought was best for the team. He even acknowledged that Geno put up some career highs in yardage and Njigba had a very good statistical year, but he wanted the offense to be more "efficient" and "smart moving the ball". Just in his one year as our OC, I can see what MacDonald could mean about being more "efficient" and "smart moving the ball". Grubb called a lot of wasted plays that stumped what started off as productive drives. If he did any of that stuff with Seattle I can see why MacDonald got tired of it.

Seattle had 383 rushing attempts in 2024 for 1600 yards. They had 507 rushing attempts for 2096 yards in 2025 with the same two featured backs. It’s not just more yards, it’s the attempts for more yardage , Seattle kept the ball longer, sustained drives better , which made the defense more rested and played better . It’s amazing what complimentary football does for the entire TEAM. Just change one thing, run the ball more.MacDonald sure seemed to think Grubb was the problem. Nevermind most of them ends in 2027.
But either way I don't think they're done with staff changes just yet.
I just know some of us have mentioned this several times that there could be a change at RB position and maybe one more after that. LAny other insight into what we could expect?
That's cool and hope you are right. Again, I have zero inside information and just calling it as I see it from the cheap seats. I think we need some changes. The OL coach situation was certainly a must and Coach was obligated to at least make that change for optics sake. Just seems to me that he is content with his on field coaches. Maybe he makes a move in the weight room but I get the feeling this is a man that doesn't like to make wholesale changes in his staff...at least, not yet. JMHO but hope you are correct. Some of the coaches contract ends in February.
