The Upcoming Schedule Is Promising

Not necessarily. I assume by path you mean which NCAA bracket we are in and how we are seeded.

Here’s the thing. If you seed us too low, you were actually penalizing other teams. For example, if we should be a three, and you make us a six, that 11 seed is now playing a much harder team than they should be playing. It also punishes whoever is a three that has to play In round 2. That should be a three in round two.

So I think that keeps us from being penalized

And all that makes sense but you gotta figure in the pettiness and Bama hate factors. Sadly both are a thing.

I don't think that they are.
I hear this all the time...NCAA hates Bama...Refs hate Bama and we can't even get fair officiating at home...but where is the proof?

It's like a good portion of our fan base hates every network play by play guy and the color commentator and claim they are ALWAYS rooting against us.

I just don't get it. And it's one thing to believe there is some Bama fatigue in football (even though we haven't won anything in 5 seasons now), but in basketball??? Why? Because we went to the FF a couple of years ago?

We Bama Fans are a fickle bunch!

That sums up my thoughts.

The refs aren't out to get us. We remember 90% of the bad calls made against us and 10% of the bad calls that benefit us. All fans are that way. It's why we also remember 90% of the negative stuff about us personally, but only 10% of the good stuff. The percentages are made up by me, but probably aren't that far off.

This is where you sit Philon. Play Bethea 15-20.
I'd like to see him get some extended minutes.

He seems to take a little while to find the flow of the game and then, in most cases, before he gets into it, CNO takes him out.

What's strange to me is how he looks lost on defense. I watch him closely when he's in the game, but he just looks confused at times. And when he's trying to play help side defense, he usually loses track of his man.

This makes me wonder about his peripheral vision.

He looks most comfortable in fast break situations when it's more instinctive and that's when his incredible athleticism shows.

Many times, two fans of different teams watching the same game, in which their team is playing the other, will make the same exact comments regarding their respective team. I've seen this when I've made the mistake of looking at a forum for some other team.

Refs aren't biased, they are just really bad at their jobs.

I think we can all agree with that...and I'll add...they are always very consistent...from one game to the next....sometimes not even in the same game!

And I'm not sure what the answer is either! Should they let 'em play more? If so, basketball turns into football. Should they call more fouls? If so, games will last 3 hours with 100 FTs.

He got yanked this past game cause he made terrible plays almost looked like a guard version of Williamson. He might have checked out mentally.

My wife and I follow football, basketball and gymnastics. In all 3 we constantly hear the talking heads celebrating when our opponent does something good like it’s their team. Bama does something good and it’s ’ho hum Bama did something good’. In gymnastics we’ve watched long enough to know what is going to get counted off on scores and routinely our opponents do not get points docked for doing the exact same things our girls do and end up with higher scores. It was so bad in one meet, the coach was having what appeared to be a terse conversation with one of the judges asking them to explain themselves. The talking heads are way less than professional in that sport but the cheering on of opponents is blatant. We grow tired of hearing constant chatter in basketball about how our opponent needs to do this or needs to do that and getting loud when they score or make a big play. But let the opponent get ahead and I’ll be danged they don’t talk about Alabama that way they just keep on being giddy as the opponent pours it on. Basketball refs suck for the most part. Yeah I get that. But I wholeheartedly believe there is media bias and until I hear them change I will continue. Frankly I want Razorback Homer Jimmy Dykes to contract an odd case of the can’t-talk from late October till April every single year. If I never hear that jerk speak again it’ll be too soon.

Do you feel better after this rant? Sometimes letting it all out can be beneficial and is much better than a heart attack...relax...its just college sports.

Yeah, I used to think that too until that Uthug football game in Knoxville a few years ago...

Jason Autrey was absolutely horrible in that one!

lol…I’m good. I really don’t let it bother me like it sounds. It’s just annoying. But still wish laryngitis on Arkansas Dykes for several months at a time. Most of time I mute the TV. He’s just grated on every nerve to the point I wish he’d be handcuffed between Doug Shows and Bruce Pearl for a year.

Being a referee is an incredibly difficult job. Most of the guys that do it give their best effort and work to get better.

I tried to referee intramural basketball while in college. I was blown away by how difficult it was to figure it out.
I called middle school basketball (boys and girls) when I was in my 20’s and umpired pony league baseball and girls softball.

By far basketball was the most difficult. If I walked off the court and no one on either team was happy with me, I figured I had done my job rather well. šŸ˜‰

And have Pat Adams and TV Teddy Valentine whispering sweet nothings in his ears?
