I follow news on rare earth production. Clearly we are desperate to replace the materials after the Chinese tariff affair blew up in Trump's face because of his ignorance on critical materials. I have seen photos of F-35's being completed without radar. In terms of 155 MM artillary rounds Antimony and Tungsten and additives for forging high strength steel have had China as a primary supplier. It will take time and discipline to replace all of this.

That mission BEGAN in 1982 because of a puppet (Gemayel) propped up by (wait for it) the US and Israel. It escalated because (wait for it) Israel’s leader (Menachem Begin) and his blood thirsty defense secretary (Ariel Sharon) crossed the lines of acceptability even to the most pro-Israeli members of Reagan’s advisers. Israel was so morally bankrupt in their actions that Shimon Peres condemned what was going on.

And do you remember who violated the agreement made in that war?

Israel, who stood by and let Gemayel’s militia (in the wake of his assassination) kill over 700 Palestinians.

Firing missiles into a meeting is the easy part.

The current occupant of the White House does not have the intellectual capacity to have formulated a plan for the hard part.

And he doesn’t hire anyone who could get him to see this because he only hires sycophants.

He's not. However, a group of MAGA lawyers, 11 IIRC, have drawn up a proposed EO, which would allow presidential interference in the local conduct of elections. It reads like a bad joke. I said it belonged on a roll, by a toilet. I would expect it would end up on the SCOTUS emergency docket with a unanimous decision that it was unconstitutional. State control of elections is probably the clearest provision of the Constitution...

There is no way that, after a day, this war has somehow affected the price of gas already in the tanks at gas stations. These greedy, dirty companies instantly raise prices every time the wrong person farts in the wind, but they take months to lower them again.

Unfortunately, changes due to market forces, like an increase in wholesale prices, are exempt from price gouging consideration. Just because that new wholesale price has not actually been manifested in the gasoline in the dealer's tanks it would still be considered a change due to market forces. Like it or not there will likely be no ramifications for the oil companies.

How exactly would Trump order Massachusetts (for example) to not hold elections? What would be the enforcement mechanism?
