BREAKING Holloway arrested on marijuana charge - 03.16.26

I always thought it smelled more like burnt rope
Who/where are you hanging (with) to smell burnt rope??? šŸ˜‚

There's a time, IIRC, in the fall, that must be skunk mating season and male skunks apparently cross the roads, on a regular basis, for some action, but fail to get to the other side. The whole country at that time of the year smells like weed!

But if you really want to smell it, take a trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica!

So, any idea how's our offense and defense is going to evolve without Holloway, who was responsible for 18 or so points a game?
Thanks for a substantive question! And the answer is NOBODY!

We'll be lucky if a couple guys step up to produce 18 that normally don't!

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but if we had any chance to advance as far as the EE, it went down the tubes (unless Holloway somehow gets reinstated to the university/team, which I doubt!). Basically, other than losing Philon or Sherrell, this is worse case scenerio!

sort of like when you buy a 24 pack of toilet paper in Lee County forgetting you had one AND your wife brings one home too.
Well Holloway DID play for the Barn prior to coming to Tuscaloosa so I guess it is plausible šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰

ā€œDamn honey why did you buy another half kilo? There’s a pound in the garage on the shelf and half pound in the laundry room by the Tide Pods….

If it were my job to argue in his defense, I guess I could point out that if he was any sort of sophisticated operator, he'd have thought to clean out/lay low for a period immediately following a citation.

It seems astonishingly naive for it to not occur that you're about to at minimum get spammed by someone who's job is making busts.

On WJOX a few minutes ago reported that documents acquired by The Tuscaloosa News stated:

1) Holloway stated he bought the weed ā€œfrom out of townā€
2) he thought he only had ā€œa quarter of a poundā€.
3) they found $400 in cash a coat pocket in the closet
4) Found evidence of transactions on his phone

#3 probably isn’t a big deal given the money college athletes are making today. However, if you couple it with number four, things don’t look good for Holloway.

I heard that report this morning while at the gym; if #1 brings Federal charges he has a BIG problem. Fed's don't believe in parole. Remember Sherman Williams? He served 14 years; of course he was dealing LARGE quantities.

Large for sure…lol

He got busted for 1,000 Pounds in two States (AL and TX)

I’d be willing to bet 1,000 Pounds is still illegal in 2026 in all 50 States

My guess is Holloway was found with 2.1 pounds and not 2.2 or higher to get him to flip on whoever his ā€˜Sherman Williams’ is in this situation.

I met Sherman at the gun show in Hoover last year. He now has a community assistance program for disadvantaged children and had a booth to raise money for his cause. Talked with him for a few minutes, gave him a donation and he autographed a picture from his playing time. He served 14 years; but when he got out he completed his degree from UA. He is now the head coach at Murphy H.S. in Mobile. Nice man and seems to have his life on the right path now.

Dude had 4 of the large bags from that picture posted earlier and "thought" he only had a 1/4 pound.

Nice try, buddy. You need a little more practice at lying.
That’s what Conrad (one of the show hosts) said.

ā€œDoes he really think they (police) are that stupid?ā€

How funny would it be if hes not lying just misunderstood. You said 4 large bags. A quartered pound kinda sounds like a quarter pound hahaha

So documents say that they searched the trash cans associated with Holloway’s residence and found marijuana particles (my guess stems and seeds) along with packaging materials. The search was conducted after authorities said they had received ā€œcomplaintsā€. However, there are not any specifics as to the complaints as part of the court documents. Holloway’s attorney has already stated that will contest the search as being illegal for this reason.

The Tuscaloosa PD and the Task Force better have solid information from those ā€œcomplaintsā€ or it could be a problem for them.

From ESPN:

"The money is being seized due to seeing drug transactions on Holloway's phone, with people texting that they were going to get up with him after the season," prosecutors said in a complaint filed Friday. "Holloway had smaller denominations in his possession which is indicative of narcotic sales. The marijuana was in separate packing, from plastic bags to prepackaged marijuana to vacuum sealed bags."

Perhaps I'm not up on all the current vernacular, but "getting up" with someone is indicative of a drug transaction?

He had $400 dollars in "smaller" denominations? I generally carry 20s when I'm out because I don't want to flash larger bills around or have to worry about not being able to break them.

Did they find a scale in his house? What kind of dealer isn't using a scale? Especially a dealer who supposedly thought he only had a quarter pound.

It kind of sounds like someone complained about the smell and triggered this investigation.

Or it could be there was an inordinate amount of traffic (cars and visitors) in and around Holloway’s residence which triggered complaints.
True. I don't have any idea what his house or neighborhood looks like. Does he live in a single-family house, a condo, apartment, etc.? Is it on or off campus? It is an area that normally has a bunch of college-aged students coming and going at all times of the day or a typical suburban type of neighborhood?

It sounds like they should have waited a bit and made a better case. The trash thing just doesn't sound that plausible...there must be more. Just a couple weeks of further investigation and the season would be over. Does the timing of his arrest sort of stink to anybody else? I ask, because it seems like this was rushed when an air tight case was pretty easily within reach.

Our basketball team, which seemed like a team that would go far just based on their depth, now is really, really thin. There's only about 7 guys I'd expect to score/contribute anything meaningful. Injuries, mis-evaluations, and now legal troubles have really taken this team to the brink.

What makes you think they don't have an " air tight " case; or why they care about the tournament?

It appears (from what I’ve seen on the news) his ā€œapartmentā€ appears to be in a more residential area. Doesn’t look like an apartment complex area. It appears to me to be an area with several residential duplexes.
