Mamdani has appointed a literal communist to direct Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants

Last week it was the "two forms of ID needed to shovel snow" thing....and no one showed up.

Now this.......

‘Thank you': Mamdani responds to Trump SOTU jab over emergency snow shovelers' IDs

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani had few words -- two, mainly -- when asked to respond to President Donald Trump slighting him in the State of the Union in a comment about city snow removal jobs: "Thank you."

That's the answer Mamdani gave reporters who gathered to watch him build a snowman with some kids on Wednesday -- when public school students, at the mayor's direction, returned to class in person after a day off.

"I'd like to say, 'Thank you,'" Mamdani said. Incidentally, Trump gave the program national press.

The mayor said 1,400 New Yorkers signed up for the snow removal job program just on Tuesday, the day Trump tossed that barb. He also said the added support for his city workers is instrumental. These shovelers helped clear more than 16,000 crosswalks, more than 4,000 hydrants, and more than 7,000 bus stops, Mamdani said.

SOCIALIST MAMDANI INTENDS TO NOT EVEN LET YOU REST IN PEACE WITH A 50% DEATH TAX WHEN YOU DIE

Socialist Mamdani wants to reduce the estate tax exemption threshold to $750K from $7.1M and increase the confiscation rate to 50%.

That would be the lowest threshold in the entire country.

$750k is an absolute joke, especially in NYC. Only the most destitute will not have a net worth like that at the time of their death. Real estate has gone crazy the last 10 years and that alone has caused many people's net worth to explode even though it is just paper gains. My in-laws are some of the worst financial decision makers and have been almost destitute their entire lives. Only because they got lucky and renovated a junked up house about 8 years ago and the place is now value at about $750k do they have any net worth at all. Under this proposed tax situation when they pass the house would have to be sold because there is no money in the estate to pay the tax. All because of one, smallish, single-family home.

I searched "average home price in New York City," and the result was $805k with a median sales price of $875k. So indeed, just to keep an average paid for home with no other assets involved, survivors would face a significant tax bill.

Q: “What would you say to Elon Musk about waste, fraud, and abuse?”

Zohran Mamdani: “I would say that this isn’t actually a right wing concern. It’s a concern right at the heart of leftwing politics because as people who care deeply about public goods, we care just as deeply about public excellence. And we know that if we want New Yorkers to believe in the power of government to deliver for them, we have to show that every single dollar in our budget is going towards exactly that. We’re proud to be looking for inefficiencies or examples of fraud or waste across city government, eliminating them, and then delivering on what people actually voted for”

I agree with Madmani's first sentence. Government waste, fraud, and abuse is hardly a right wing concern. It's not the concern of either party when they are in power. It's a lip service concern to the party that is out of power. One of the many reasons why both parties suck.

The rest of his speech is a big steaming pile of nonsense. He's a big government socialist. Government is waste, fraud, and abuse - to a large degree by design and to an overwhelming degree by practice. You don't get less waste, fraud and abuse by creating more waste, fraud, and abuse. There are so many examples that one can draw no other conclusion. Rent controls do not increase the supply of rental units. Increasing minimum wage laws don't lower prices or raise employment levels. Restricting school choice is not going to make public schools more efficient or raise performance. And so on thousands of times more. Substituting government fiat for market forces is a fool's errand. And the socialists never seem to factor in the direct and indirect costs of government. Convenient for them.

His (and the big government crowd's) solution is to create more government and raise taxes. More inefficiency and more siphoning off wealth from the growth-producing private sector. His solution is one of a fantasy world dreamed up by a weathy, privileged, spoiled Marxist who has never had a real job. It's also the dream of idiots. These two types of people are often the same person.
