Alabama Basketball Roster Tracker 2026-2027

I don't know ... It sounds like they're done adding.
Murphy's tweets are like CNS's PCs; he's always saying something meaningful.

If that's the case, they must feel really good about Hollaway's chances to come back next year.

I was hoping for another PG with some size so Hollaway could play off point, where I think he's most effective.

It may be they're increasing Murphy Jr's role on the team.

Or it may just mean he's giving a thumbs down to the players mentioned in the article.
That's not how Preston Murphy works with how he tweets out information. He's not gonna say no to players like that. He always use GIF or meme or quick clips to send messages to the Bama fans. The message tend to lend toward of where they're not adding anymore players ... That's how I looked at it.

If this is our final roster I will be very disappointed in what we did. There is basically 1 or 2 true goods on the roster and they would be completely counting on Holloway to be back 100%. Even if he comes back look at all the injuries we have had recently you need at least 2 or 3 guys at each position. Maybe they have some ideas for international players as well, but hopefully what we have now isn’t everyone we have come November. I also count just 13 guys on the active roster.(includes Holloway, Allen, and Oyenjiaka). If I am not mistaken the 2026 allows 15 guys on the roster and all can get scholarships.

It seems to be very strange roster construction too with how we like to play.

1. PG Holloway 6’1
2. PG Murphy 6’1
3. SF Samuels 6’5
4. SF Bouie 6’6
5. SF Richardson 6’6
6. SF Cloer 6’7
7. SF Allen 6’8
8. SF Jemison 6’8
9. PF Bristow 6’10
10. C Garrison 6”10
11. C Fielder 6’11
12. C Fleming Davis 6”10
13. C Onyejiaka 6”11.

There is 2 legit guards on the roster and Murphy got absolutely no run his first two years in college. I loved they added some size and strength but besides Fielder are not stretch big men. The recruits are all small forward slasher type guys more then ball handles and shooters from scouting reports.

It could also mean we already know who else we are adding and we aren't on the market looking anymore. Just waiting for the ink to dry so to speak. Who knows though really...

Or it could just be talking about being done in the portal, and we're looking at some europros. Unless Philon shocks everyone and withdraws from draft, I just don't see us being able to go without adding another guard. I've been wrong before, but I hesitate to read it as we're done when we only have 1 scholarship guard.

G- Aden Holloway 6'1" (he will be back)
G- Preston Murphy Jr. 6'1"
G- Qayden Samuels 6'6"

Allen will be back.
Allen and Cole Coler will share ball responsibilities at times...

I feel like we will add one more Guard, making it 13th player assuming all goes well.
I think everyone is too focused on PG and ball handling... In Oat system, he likes having different players bringing the ball up court.
And I don't think we will have traditional position on court. I can see Oats going big often... And not going small with two or three guards.

I know other folks will disagree with me, but I think Bristow staying is a big deal.

He's a keeper in my opinion. Really athletic for his height.

Just go back and look at those first few games he was able to play. He was impressive. Flying around all over the court, rebounding, and getting to the rim with the ball.

I think he will be a major contributor to the program next year.

Just my opinion, of course. :)

Samuels is a 6”6 wing with a 6’10 wingspan I don’t think he is a guard. He might be able to handle the ball some but he also isn’t the quickest guys as he slightly stocky build. I don’t think you want him trying to defend the real quick guards in the SEC. Every year under Oates we have had at least 5 actual guards on the roster that saw lot of minutes.

I tend to agree about Samuels. And unless they're expanding Murphy's role, I can't see how going this route doesn't put us in a bind in some way. I clearly think these roster moves imply we're getting away from frequently "playing small" going forward.

I can see where y'all coming from with this, but I think everyone probably gonna need to step outside the box for a minute. If you get a chance, go check out Duke's roster. Nobody is below 6"4" and they have a guard who's 6"8" who plays guard.
UConn and Duke .. whole different team ... Both style works .. I think Samuel will play 2/3 spot often but sometime get a chance to get ball up court. Everyone's so focused on traditional offense and what's required to run plays and etc. I just feel like Oats gonna get creative. I don't think we should worry just yet.

If they don't add a ball handler then I bet we get pressed a whole bunch next season.

I don't see people focusing on that. I see people asking questions about the need for an additional ball handler. They may say PG, but generally their implication has been someone to handle the ball.

If Murphy is playing outside of it being garbage time the team is in trouble.

CNO has a plan but I currently can’t see it. It’s a whole new type of team so i give him credit to trying to adapt. But this can’t be the final roster.

For me, it's not about who can handle the ball bringing it up the court in most situations, but who can do it against tough pressure. Trelly, for instance, could bring the ball up court in a lot of situations last year but we didn't want him doing it against traps. Every year, Oats has featured a primary ball handler in our offense. Generally, the same guy can stand outside the arc with the clock winding down who can slash to the basket without the ball being taken away from him or pull up for a 3.
