Good start with a shellacking of the Rangers. Still AA needs to pulls some rabbits out of his hat to keep us in this through September.
Great start to the second half. I hope it continues. It always feels like the game after the Braves score double digits is always a 0, 1, or 2 run type of game. Man, I’d love to see them avoid that today.

Nothing to do with today, but former Braves reliever Duane Ward, more famous for his years with the Blue Jays, has passed at 62.
Ward pitched in ten games as a 22-year-old in 1986 and wasn't very good, giving up 13 ER in 16 IP with a 7.31 ERA. He was traded to the Blue Jays on the day Bob Horner hit the four bombs in the Atlanta loss to Montreal for former Braves pitcher Doyle Alexander.
Alexander, of course, was traded 13 months later to the Tigers for a minor leaguer named John Smoltz.
Sadly, Ward was in Toronto for the unveiling of a statue celebrating their 1992-93 World Series wins and didn't arrive at the ballpark. He was the setup man for Tom Henke in 1992 and an All-Star closer in 1993, when he saved 45 games (which was far more impressive then than it sounds now).

Don't know if Riley is "back" but he had a good day today. He had 2 homers. Braves got the win today and the series. As an added bonus, philly lost too.

So on Friday, we had a Braves relief pitcher get a hit off the Rangers catcher who was pitching.
I need to review the DH rule, as I don't understand how we keep ending up with pitchers in the lineup. I thought they were separate these days.
The Ohtani Rule. Basically they are treated as 2 different players. so if you are taken out as a pitcher, you can remain in the game as a DH
We don't have any elite hitting pitchers, so why would we use the Ohtani rule?
Still doesn't make sense to me, as there have been several games where pitchers are suddenly in the lineup but are pinch-hit for when their spot comes up. Why are they suddenly in the lineup but never take an at-bat?

If a manager makes certain tactical adjustments during the game, they automatically forfeit the DH for the remainder of the contest:
- Moving the DH to defense: If the DH enters the field to play a defensive position, the team loses the DH spot. The current pitcher must immediately take over that spot in the batting rotation.
- Moving a pitcher to another position: If a pitcher moves from the mound to play another field position (e.g., outfield), the DH is forfeited.
I did not realize you could lose the DH in certain situations.

It was 13-1 at the time so it is not like it mattered.
We really need some dependable SP’s other than Sale.
AA said something the other day about wanting to add someone IF they were available.

Do we actually have anyone worth trading that anyone will want? We really need at least 2 pitchers and I don't think we have the available players to trade that anyone would find appealing. Unless we find someone dumber than AA.
Would probably need to trade prospects, cash, and at least 1 player that’s good enough to start.
We have an unending supply of Catchers for some reason.
I wonder if we could get anyone to take Sean Murphy?
Murphy injured a lot and was batting worse than Kim. I would try though. we don't need him.
