Opinion | House GOP memo shows party’s ‘socialist’ scare tactics are not working
Ahead of the midterms, a conservative firm is warning House Republicans to smear liberals as communists instead of socialists.www.ms.now
Socialism should scare everyone. Just ask the fine folks from Cuba and Venezuela.
I recommend everyone watch the Bill Maher video below (not a link, has a bad word in it, unfortunately - search the title on YouTube):

Here's where I disagree with you a little bit, the thing to look at is the primaries. A swing state like Wisconsin may very well have a socialist candidate for governor, and a legit radical Islam sympathizer as a Senatorial nominee in Michigan. This will lead to some of them winning state wide elections at some point, maybe this year. A wave year could easily carry them in a close election and now you've got these radical idiots in positions of real authority. If the primary voters of the parties are on the fringes in enough numbers they will nominate like minded radicals.Yes, socialism should.
But just as the Democrats spent years tarring any Republican a "racist" on oftentimes the most scintilla of a stretch of an argument, the simple fact is this has been a Republican cry since the New Deal era. The Dems have paid dearly for all of the wolf crying and after the fact "we only lost because" nonsense with the current driver of the GOP clown car, who - despite the third grade level defense of Trump by showing a picture of him with his black friend - was in trouble for refusing to rent to non-whities all the way back in 1973. Same thing with the fascist schtick. Harry Truman compared Thomas Dewey to Adolph Hitler in 1948, and that, too, has been a constant refrain. You know, you tell folks for 60-plus years that if guy X wins we're headed to World War Eleven - and then it doesn't happen - it stops having any effect at all after awhile. McGovern compared Nixon to Hitler no less than three times during the 1972 campaign.
Likewise, there is a risk if you call enough people a socialist long enough, it will have a near zero effect. It already has less than it did because a lot of the younger people don't see it as such a bad thing. And the GOP calling the Democrats soft on communism has been ongoing since Nixon and Joe McCarthy.
I think it's long past time, however, for the news media to - you know - actually TELL THE TRUTH about this stuff. A socialist like AOC can EASILY win a House district, particularly a gerrymandered one. It isn't all that difficult. It's why you can find a number of kooks like Lauren Boebert or (before she quit) Marjorie Taylor Greene in the GOP and about an equal number in the Democratic Party, people whose views are so extreme the room flips sideways when they enter.
It's a whole lot more difficult to do this in a statewide race - unless your state is really small.
Like Vermont, where we have the only socialist in the US Senate. It's a limited universe of voters where Statler the Muppet was once the mayor of the largest city in the state.
How large is Burlington?
You could seat every single member of the city on ONE SIDE of a sold out Bryant-Denny Stadium.
On a leftie site I follow people are going crazy because Beshear isn’t marching into McConnell’s hospitals room to see how he’s doing with the state police in tow.
No matter how many times they are told the hospital wouldn’t let him in the door or even confirm McConnell is a patient and that he can’t order them to do so, they still think it’s some giant conspiracy.
They also say it destroys his presidential hopes and swear they will never vote for him.
Because nominating a moderate Southern governor would never work. Go with AOC, she’s a lock.
On youtube search "bill maher new rules 7/31/26". The last part of the segment makes a lot of sense concerning the DSA. I cant link it here because of language.
So the people that want to defund the police and cry buckets over a “police state” and always side against the cops…… suddenly want the state police to do their bidding……
Don’t forget - these are the same people that thought confronting a bisexual Senator IN A FREAKING BATHROOM was an acceptable invasion of privacy.
It was the estimated 11-14% of Bernie voters who went for Trump of stayed home that got them in this pickle in the first place.
I saw that one. It was a good monologue. I've always enjoyed listening to Maher. I started watching him back around 2007. He's entertaining and pretty thoughtful about things. I've more often than not disagreed with him on things, but I've always liked to listen to him.On youtube search "bill maher new rules 7/31/26". ALLAGASH, ME — Maine Senate candidate Troy Jackson reportedly converted to Islam as a way to evade criticism for hooking up with his cousin.
Jackson said Islam is "totally what he believes in" after learning it's normal for them to marry their cousins.
Jackson said he got the idea after realizing Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar had quite the saucy affair with her brother and no one batted an eye.
"Looks like I finally put this scandal to bed," Jackson said, relieved. "My cousin, too."

Hong: The governor cannot defund the police, so I have to give up that particular pipe dreamand I won't defund the police. And I am not interested in abolishing prisons because now I understand that kind of thought will keep me from being elected . What I am interested in is being serious aboutsafetygetting elected. And that means ensuring that law enforcement has the training that they need, all 10 of them that are left once I take over and that we're holding law enforcement that break the law accountable.
it only takes a few to cross overBut they still vote against him...
