Atlanta Braves 2026 season discussion (2nd half)

🤬

We already had non-dependable pitchers on staff. What's the point of bringing in more?

I guess AA still has time to surprise us, but does anyone really think that will happen?

A surprise is doubtful.

I think we get the same old spiel about how he really wanted to make an acquisition but the other side’s asking price was too high.

Which is baloney.

He’s just a cheapskate.

Well Clay Holmes of the Mets in the picture now? With less than two hours to the deadline I guess the Tigers want to see how desperately Atlanta (or others) want to deal for Mize?

Well the Tigers asked such insulting prices with Skubal that they chased off everyone and the Dodgers offer them the biggest one sided deal ever so i guess they know they will have to get something for Mize.

Yep. I think the Tigers said “we got to get rid of Skubal”, asked for ridiculous packages then gave the Dodgers a bargain basement deal. You would have expected the Tigers to get at least one current player from the Dodgers’ roster. Now with Mize it is if we can’t get a king’s ransom, we’ll just keep him.

A deal now for Clay Holmes seems unlikely for the Braves with teams like the Padres, Dbacks, White Sox and Brewers in the mix from outside the division.

This is stupid. Every team even remotely in the running for the playoffs is attempting to “cement” their chances at the deadline.

Meanwhile AA and the Braves are saying “maybe we can hold things together with coat hangers, bubble gum and zip ties”.

I think we just sent Joey Bart to the Whitesox for a Comiskey Dog with the works.

We trade Eli white for a guy that only pitched one game…. Either we are gearing up for something or just adding random arms at this point. You desperately need a proven starter.

What in the world was Alex holding onto? We are on the brink of a lockout and you let the Cubs, Phillies, and Padres empty their coffers to acquire players. The only thing you did all day was get B to C list talent and flirt on interest for DeGrom. This is making 2019 look better by comparison.

I mean it is entirely possible that the Tigers were being donkeys knowing they had a bunch of desperate teams and 2 Aces everyone wanted. But still you got to make moves.

So AA's answer to pitching needs is 3 relief pitchers that I had to Google. This arrogant idiot thinks he can pull another 2021 type trade and luck his way into another world series. Fire AA! I used to defend this incompetent idiot but now I am on the fire him train. He needs to go!

Clay Holmes off the board. Heading to the Cubs.
Yep. Cubs got Holmes and Taylor for Jefferson Rojas. A really good but not untouchable prospect. Cubs have another Jefferson Rojas coming in Fernando Cruz. So between Cruz's development and the emergence of Pedro Ramirez, I am totally fine with this trade.

As for the Braves, I am surprise they did not go after Mize or another starter other than Mahle. Rogers was there to be had.
