Want to wrap up a few things on the 2016 class now that the dust has firmly settled on National Signing Day.
First off, the obvious: 'Bama pulled in another great class, despite some unnecessary fretting the past couple of months from the insecure wing of the fan base. I think we've signed...
There is a thread about this on the Football board, but obviously this development may have a real recruiting impact as well, so it deserves discussion here as well.
Please just keep this thread focused solely on the recruiting fallout / developments associated with this news. For all other OM...
Interesting kid here, and one I would really like to add. We've made a serious push for him late in the process, and if I had to wager I would say he has a firm spot in the class if he wants it.
His official visit went well last weekend, but his commitment to Ole Miss is going to be a problem...
Again, creating a new thread because I couldn't find an existing one and because discussion of his recruitment was spilling over into unrelated threads.
FWIW, his official visit went well last weekend and there is reason to be bullish about the chances for Alabama on this one, but his official...
All right, guys, it's that time of year where recruiting goes bonkers, so I know there is an urge to post new threads with new information as it comes along, but please refrain. We tend to be more lax about these things throughout the year, but with NSD right upon us we are going to have to...
Roll Tide, folks, hope all of you are well and enjoying the New Year. Been a busy few months for me, but wanted to check back in with a recruiting update now that the staff can finally turn full attention to recruiting as we enter the stretch run.
For starters, this has been a more challenging...
Consider this a follow-up to the earlier post as everything gets clarified on down the stretch. The class is all but finalized at this point, with only a few moving parts still left ahead. We are nine days from NSD and the board has narrowed dramatically, so a brief statement on where things...
We are just under three weeks away from National Signing Day and things are really starting to reach peak intensity, so let's have a quick round-up as to where 'Bama stands at the moment:
As of right now, we effectively have two spots left, and adding more signees beyond that is going to...
Need to get a thread going for this kid, who is perhaps our top OT target on the board right now. September 9th decision coming up, and the fight is between 'Bama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss.
UT people feel confident on this one, but Richmond was in Tuscaloosa this past weekend and we at least...
Had arthroscopic surgery yesterday on the same knee that he hurt last year celebrating against Clemson. Surgery was reportedly to fix a "cartilage issue," which anyone who has ever had a knee injury knows is not good news.
No real timetable at this point, so we'll see how it goes. I'm sure...
Per various reports, including al.com, he's officially JUCO bound. Can't say it's a real surprise, but was hoping he could squeeze in.
No word on Bo just yet.
Interesting little tidbit here:
Cornerback / safety prospect Ronnie Harrison, a longtime UNC commit, is in Tuscaloosa right now on an unofficial visit. He has been committed to UNC for about a year now, but he's a Tallahassee kid, and his recruitment is really starting to take off.
Might want...
Steve Shaw explaining the new rules now. Lot of emphasis on striking zone for hits on the QB, where the SEC has effectively implemented the NFL's Brady Rule.
Later up this morning will be an ESPN VP discussing the SEC Network and Gary Pinkel. Les Miles and Bret Bielema will be in the afternoon...
Get ready for all of the Spurrier one-liners...
Coaches on the slate today are Spurrier, Mullen, Sumlin, and Butch Jones. Might as well consider this Blowhard Day in Hoover.
Might as well get one of these going.
Malzahn is speaking now, with some relatively big news at that: Sophomore DE Carl Lawson had ACL surgery late this spring, and they "hope" to have him back late in the year. Been a lot of speculation for a long time about Lawson having some form of knee...
Crazy stuff, to put it mildly. Per the LA Register:
Grisly details here. The deceased was the boyfriend of Jackson's mother, and he was found dead by Jackson's mother in the trunk of his own car after being strangled to death by a lamp cord. Apparently Jackson had been having some mental...
Haven't seen this confirmed yet by either the traditional media or McLeod, but BOL is reporting that he will transfer:
We'll see if this turns out to be true, but if it does then it won't come as a real surprise. Cooper Bateman's solid spring mixed with the arrival of Cornwell and the...
