ICYMI, the 82-83 team is to be honored at the Baylor game on 1/29/2022. Better late than never. I say that because I was terribly disappointed in 2014 when they were not honored at the UCLA game. Why then and why UCLA you ask. Because on 1/28/1983, the day of Coach Bryant's funeral and burial, the 82-83 team went to Pauley Pavilion and defeated the #1 ranked UCLA Bruins. To me it doesn't get any bigger than that in Bama basketball history.

Mark Farmer started 11 games in his career at Bama. Don't know how many were in 82-83 but I do know Bama won all of them , including the UCLA game, because Bama was 11-0 in his starts. Reason for the success with Mark at Center was because, outside of Chapel Hill, NC when Dean Smith was playing Michael Jordan at Forward rather than Guard, there was not another pair of Forwards in CBB better than Buck Johnson and Bobby Lee Hurt.

We played North Carolina in the tourney in 1982 - Jordan, Worthy, Perkins and Dougherty. Eddie Phillips was on that Bama team. They won by 5, mainly due to 27 fouls called on us vs. 14 on them.
