You know, the more I think about it, the more I should have picked Navy/Ohio State. The Buckeyes should win, of course, but I would love to see Bill the Goat give them both hands full.

Ohio State is like a 21-22 point favorite in the game. I have no doubt they'll win, but with the offense Navy runs... I do not see this being a high scoring game at all.

Our game. I would like to see Memphis bring Ole Miss back down to earth, and LSU vs Washington

I want to see the LA Tech vs. Auburn game. Barner fans think they're a cupcake, but LA Tech went 8-5 last year and could well have been 10-3.

They return their entire starting offensive line, led by a 6-6 300-pounder. Their starting tailback ran for 1,100 yards behind that line last year. He comes back, too.

Their biggest weakness is on defense. They gave up too many big plays through the air, and that has been a focus of LA Tech's spring and fall camps. If they've grown some defense, and if they can pound the ball at a thin barn D, they have a real shot at not only winning the game, but winning and making it look easy.

Are all of these games televised, or are you asking if we had the opportunity which games would we want to watch?

More of a "what I would watch if I could" thread. They are all probably televised somewhere, but probably everyone here has at least one or two they can't get.

Just a conversation starter with a bit more than a week to go. :)

I'll watch most of these if I cannot make it to Atlanta, but honestly none of these games really grab my interest.

Georgia v. Oklahoma State is probably the biggest, but neither of those two look to make it to their conference title games -- or even particularly close, for that matter -- so it's nothing overly special. My interest will basically be seeing how UGA looks and how they might stack up against LSU, but that will be about it.

LSU v. Washington is a total snoozer, IMO. It's an interesting sounding match-up, but to me it's a lot like Appy State a year ago. Sounds kinda interesting, but a bad game. Washington was 0-12 last year, and LSU could struggle again this year and still steamroll that bunch. And, hell, truth be told, Appy State would probably beat Washington.

The rest are largely the same. Ole Miss v. Memphis is the ultimate snoozer game, same with Ohio State v. Navy. Florida State v. Miami hasn't been a decent game since 2000, and OU / USC will steamroll BYU / NC State. The only one really grabbing my attention is Auburn v. La Tech... not that it's much of a game, mind you, just that it will cause an earthquake in east Alabama if the cards fall the right way.

And speaking of Florida State v. Miami, according to the Orlando Sentinel, that game is not even anywhere near a sellout right now:

As we discussed earlier, Florida State’s season-opener against Miami is not a sellout. In fact, I was told today by someone who would know that the game isn’t anywhere close to being sold out. This will surprise people. After, all, it’s Florida State-Miami. One of college football’s great rivalries. It’s a primetime game. It’s the first game of the season. It’s Labor Day night. And so on and so on.

Also keep these three things in mind: (1) FSU's stadium holds "only" about 83,000 people, (2) FSU is expected to be pretty good this year (some even think a breakout year), and (3) it's a make or break year for Shannon. And even with all of that, they cannot even get close to a sell out for a major rivalry game, so much so that one of the state's major papers is saying that stadium capacity needs to be reduced -- in an era of facilities arms race in college football -- by at least 10,000 seats.

It just goes to show you how irrelevant the Florida State v. Miami game has become even in its own region, and largely how irrelevant those two programs have become, period. And it's also showing why Florida should continue its reign of dominance, and also how South Florida may soon be the second team in the state of Florida.

They should have never moved this game to open the season. Even with a diminished stance in the national setting, this game should have never been played before October.

Without a doubt, we are playing in the premier game of the weekend. The UGA/Okie Light game has implications, and from there it drops off sharply.

There's always something salvageable on a football weekend, however. I figure one or two of these games will 'tattle' on someone. La. Tech may have the best upset shot (we'll run a poll on that next week), but a few other teams could get exposed even if they win (FSU, OSU, OM).

Oh, well. I'm just glad to have a football weekend on the horizon. :)

I think Georgia will start the day off right by going into Stillwater and knocking off Oklahoma State. It should set the stage for us nicely when we thump Virginia Tech to finish the evening.

UGA vs OSU - should be a good game
Ole Miss - Memphis - to see how OM starts out with all the hype
AU - La. Tech- to see the barn get their hinies kicked by a team that the
barnies think will be a pushover. Gosh, I can hear 'em
already.

Being an SEC homer, I'd like to watch all the SEC games. And yes, I want the SEC teams to win. Ok. State will be a tough test for UGA. Memphis and La. Tech will tell us something about OM & Auburn respectively.

Oregon @ Boise St will be a great game.
It's too bad BYU vs. OU is an hour before the Bama game, because I think it could get very interesting.
UGA @ Ok St will be very good.
And I voted for the Utah game because I'll be there. I'm hoping the QB play will be enough to not cost us games.
