I think the receivers helped him far more than they hurt him. I would think even Hurts biggest supporters can acknowledge that.
So we're going from "every QB has drops" to "the WRs helped more than they hurt" that quick?

You have a way of twisting things my friend. You want to blame every incompletion on the receivers be my guest. Yes they dropped a few as all do but they made several great adjustments to poorly thrown balls. So we're going from "every QB has drops" to "the WRs helped more than they hurt" that quick?

Yeas but every QB has those.

At least we can bury the absurdity that the team plays harder for one quarterback than the other. I cannot stand to hear that. The receivers have to get adjusted to the QB. A few of those catches were tweaner catch-able. They may have been harder or not what they expected. We are spoiled with Coker at the end of the season passing right on the money, or not too hard, in stride.
I believe it was the Coach Bryant years. We beat Virginia Tech 77-6, or something close to that, in 1973. (And it wasn't running up the score. We probably played 15 RBs and 5 QBs in that game).
We've gotten to the 60s a few times since then, but I don't remember us crossing the 70 point threshold.
[TABLE="class: tablehead, width: 756"]We scored in the 60s a few times in 2010 I believe. The skill level on that offense was unreal.

What I did see was the receivers making lot's of yards off short passes in the flat, Stewart runs like a running back.So we're going from "every QB has drops" to "the WRs helped more than they hurt" that quick?
TIFWIW. Saban was asked about Jalen being a true freshman in his first road game this week. Saban answered by discussing how he likes Jalen's composure, believes he can handle things fine, the staff will support him every way possible Saturday. Then, he said, "If Blake has to play, we're going to support him, as well."
That answered a hypothetical question I asked in another post. Had wondered who they would send into this game if the fire get too hot for Jalen.
I've noticed that and like it. He's the most physical receiver since Julio...What I did see was the receivers making lot's of yards off short passes in the flat, Stewart runs like a running back.

I feel like Hurts will be successful not because of his game, but his composure in handling a stressful situation. He did well in the biggest stage playing in Dallas and now he's playing on the road. I think the first game was treated as " away game" and it helped a lot. I'm expecting a huge game from him.
What we don't know is how he might respond to a INT or Pic6 in a tight game. The fumble on the first play is one thing, but a fumble doesn't get in your head like an INT would. The INT later in the game against USC had no impact on the outcome of the game.
At some point, we should expect it to happen. It's the price of playing a inexperienced qb. Same could be said about Barnett if he were the starter.
He'll learn from it, when it happens, but I just hope it doesn't result in a loss when it does.
Jalen seems to have a short memory when we needs to...
