2024 SB Pitching Staff

Eternal optimist here, BUT on paper it looks like next year's staff of Torrence, AR State transfer Beaver, and now LSU transfer Alea Johnson will be STRONG! Also, I know it's still early, but there hasn't been an immediate rush to the transfer portal this summer. I hope Cahalan continues to develop into a Kayla Braud/McCleney type player.

The pitching should be in good shape with the true freshman Jocelyn Briski also coming in.The hitting is still the big worry.

I didn’t know about Johnson until reading this thread. Coming from LSU and doing well in the WCWS against Oklahoma, she’s a huge addition.

Beaver is still a question mark. Undeniable success, but at a lower level. She was a big fish in a small pond. Can that translate into success in the SEC? We’ll see.

Regardless, 2024 pitching is looking a ton better than I originally thought.

Are you serious? LSU was not in the WCWS. Johnson did not pitch against Oklahoma in the WCWS. NOT ONE SINGLE PITCH. Please - that was an ignorant observation.

The pitchers we have acquired in the portal are decent at best. They are FAR FAR FAR FROM championship caliber in the SEC, and certainly not in the NCAA.

Other teams are getting better and Bama is stagnant- which means Bama is going backward.

No hate here but that girl has not thrown a single pitch in the WCWS. Reality bites. So many Bama softball fans are clueless.

Hitting more so than fielding. What the Osorio and Fouts eras taught me was that you can have the best pitching and fielding in the land but if the other team is only worried about one hitter in your lineup then your goose is cooked.

Not going to take the tone as Hoops on it, but Johnson has never pitched in the WCWS. She pitched against Oklahoma in relief in the 6th and 7th innings. Yeah she went 6 up 6 down but idk if that is enough to say she is a needle mover because of those 6 outs.

I’ll say this… our depth is better but ultimately our pitching staff’s effectiveness will be determined on how well that freshmen does.
