Really mixed feelings on this because the Wrestler and the Person were completely different.

But he was a Massive Hero for my entire generation in the early to mid 1980’s.

If someone is making a Mount Rushmore of Pro Wrestling then Hulk Hogan is one of the 1st faces on there.

My Mom took me to a WWF House Show in 1988 in Pensacola, FL and it’s one of my better childhood memories of just me and her spending time together. She took pictures of Hogan and Andre and Macho Man etc etc.

I wore the ‘Hulk Rules’ shirt she bought me until it fell apart.

At any rate.

RIP Hulkster
Whether you were a fan of him, or not, he is one of the biggest characters in pro wrestling history. Had one of the biggest heel turns in wrestling history. Who's side is he on!

Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Hall of Fame boxing champ, dies at 72

Hall of Fame boxer Dwight Muhammad Qawi, who took up the sport in prison and won world titles in two different weight classes, has died at age 72.

Qawi's sister, Wanda King, said he died on Friday, July 25, after a five-year battle with dementia.

"He was a great father, a great Pop-Pop to his grandchildren," King told BoxingScene. "He had a heart of gold, and he fought his dementia illness just like he was fighting in the ring."

Born Dwight Braxton and raised in Camden, New Jersey, he learned to box at Rahway State Prison while serving a sentence for armed robbery. He turned pro after he was released in 1978 and later changed his name after converting to Islam in 1982.

Was one of my favorites when he was in his early career. Had tons of his rookie cards.

I feared this was coming.

I’m a member of a TTM Autograph group elsewhere and Sandberg stopped signing a few weeks back with a message that he was spending time with family. The way it was worded was ominous.

Tough couple of weeks for 80s kids.

I watched a lot of Cubs games on WGN back then and Sandberg was a Great player!!

RIP

National League guy here. WGN and WTBS - the 2 Super Stations - almost every night you could watch the Braves or Cubbies - or sometimes both - play!

I was hunting around in this thread and did nobody note the passing of celebrity TV chef Anne Burrell on June 17?

Just the other day, I saw a story revealing her cause of death to be suicide.

If you're going through something and don't see any other way out, please ask for help from a friend or loved one - even a stranger. They will tell you that no matter how it seems, the world will miss you terribly if you leave. There is always a hope and a chance at healing, regardless of how impossible it seems right now.

If in doubt, dial 988 to reach immediate help at the suicide hotline.

I didn’t know she committed suicide. I just thought she had a heart attack. Thank you for letting us know and for the words of encouragement.
