2022 Recruiting: 5* QB Ty Simpson

I thought I would start a thread on Ty since he is our top target at QB and he is announcing on 2/19. I am attaching the link that Tiderollin32 posted under the '22 recruiting targets thread. We look to be in a very good position with him and it would be great to get a high profile QB commit this early in the recruiting cycle.

He's a pretty good un, dosent have much help seen him play travel baseball as a 12-13 year old one heck of a arm, I still believe it's UTE, some will say why UTM on the list he's dad is head ball coach

He may choose UT but they are about to go on probation and he is just getting to know the new staff. I would think he would wait to get to know the new staff better if was going to choose them. FWIW, he got a CB to Clemson today.

In the interview he referred to Coach Mike Bobo as a quarterback genius

Bama has been high on him for awhile ( Nov 2019) and I believe the feeling is mutual. I like Bama here.

no because I honestly dont know and not going to start a rumor., the nature of qb battles are someone is going to transfer after the season. thats what I basing it on

Ok.............I would hate to lose any of them, but I can see it happening

I said it before on other threads, but with the advent of the transfer portal and seemingly the NCAA giving just about every transfer immediate eligibility, QB is a position you are almost forced to sign at least one every year or try to pull one in from the portal yourself.

Tom Luginbill made the statement that every year you try land the best QB you can (and in some cases maybe even two) and let “the chips fall where they may” in terms of competition. If a four or five star QB loses the competition and will need to wait a year or two for his shot (al a Mac Jones) then so be it. If they don’t want to wait, then let them go and find someone else in the portal or next year.
It is the nature of the situation these days.

His Bama ties are about as strong as any player we have ever had. He may be happy playing for Bama and getting his degree. It could cross his mind or he can do the Mac Jones thing.
