Only 38 days until Alabama Football Kickoff! Here is #38, Running Back, Johnny Davis!
Johnny Davis, a high school captain and multi-sport athlete, was one of the most sought after recruits in the state of Alabama when he joined the Tide in 1974. One of the great wishbone backs of Coach Bryant's era, Davis led the Tide in rushing in each of his 3 years as the feature back: a total of 2,519 yards and 21 touchdowns. A 3-time All SEC selection, Davis was a key part player in multiple bowl win for the Tide, finishing his career with what could have been a National Title in 1977. He retired as statistically one of Alabama's best backs, ranked high in the record books. Davis would be drafted in the 1978 NFL Draft, 30th overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He would play for the Buccaneers until 1980 before joining the San Francisco 49ers and winning Super Bowl XVI with Joe Montana and company. Davis would finish his career with the Cleveland Browns, retiring in 1987. Davis built quite the resume after football, working in sales, education, and motivational speaking. He is also a professional pianist.

We are now 37 days from Alabama Football Kickoff! Here is Running Back, #37, Shaun Alexander!
Shaun Alexander suited up for the Tide from 1996-1999. The running back, recruited by Coach Gene Stallings, set a school record as a freshman, rushing for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns in a blowout win against LSU. In Coach Stallings' final season and Alexander's first, the Tide would go 10-3. In 1997, Coach Mike DuBose took over and in the coach's in his second year, Alexander became a 1,000-yard rusher and an All-SEC selection. In 1999, Alexander has his best career season at Alabama, gaining over 1,700 yards and scoring 23 times. The 1999 SEC Player of the Year was would engineer a comeback against Auburn and led the Tide to the SEC Championship victory over Florida. He ended his Alabama career with an All American, an All SEC selection, and a selection 19th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He was placed on the cover of NCAA Football 2001. Alexander would earn the starting role in his second NFL season and become one of the best in the game. He notched 5 straight 1,000-yard seasons with the Seahawks, going to 3 Pro Bowls and earning 2 All Pro honors. His best season came in 2005, when Alexander would lead the NFL in rushing yards (1,880) and touchdowns (27) and brought home the league's MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards. He'd lead Seattle to a Super Bowl berth after a great playoff run. Alexander became the first running back in league history to record 15 or more touchdowns in 5 consecutive seasons and was placed on the cover of the Madden video game following his success. Injuries began to take a toll, and Alexander was limited in his final 3 years of play. Alexander retired the Seattle Seahawks All Time leading rusher and was named to the NFL's 2000s All Decade team. A member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and Seahawks Ring of Honor, Alexander has written multiple books and made contributions to charity for years.

36 days until Alabama Football Kickoff! Here is Linebacker, #36, Rich Wingo!
Rich Wingo played for the Tide from 1976-78. The linebacker, hailing from Indiana, came to the Tide in the middle of their dominance in the 1970s. Wingo racked up 44 tackles in his first year. He and the Tide made a huge leap in 1977. Wingo and the Tide went 7-0 in conference play on the back of a great defense. The linebacker tallied 75 tackles with 5 for a loss. In 1978, Alabama would win a National Championship. Wingo was part of the famous Goal Line Stand play where Barry Krauss and the defense stuffed Penn State on the goal line. He would go on to be drafted 184th overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 1979 NFL Draft. He would play 69 games for the Packers until 1984. The linebacker caught a point after pass for a point in 1981 and is the only Packer to have a career scoring total of just 1. After playing, Wingo would work with the Alabama team as a strength coach. in 2014, Wingo ran for a seat in Alabama's House of Representatives. He won and was sworn in in 2015. He is currently in office.

We're 35 days from Alabama Football Kickoff! Here is Linebacker, #35, DeMeco Ryans!
DeMeco Ryans spent 2002-05 on the roster with Alabama. A Bessemer native, Ryans worked his way onto the field in his first season, first as a special teams player and backup linebacker. In 2004, Ryans' play at linebacker would earn him All SEC honors. In his final season, Ryans would ascend to a new level, earning the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award, All American honors, and another All SEC selection. The Tide would play in the Cotton Bowl in 2005 after posting a 9-2 record and earn their 10th win over Texas Tech. He would win the Lott Trophy and go on to be drafted 33rd overall in the 2006 NFL Draft to the Houston Texans. There was instant success in Houston, as Ryans would notch 12 tackles in his first career pro game. The success would continue to flow and Ryans would earn the 2006 Defensive Rookie of the Year award for his efforts. In his second season, Ryans would go to his first Pro Bowl and earn All Pro honors. Ryans would go to a second Pro Bowl in 2009 and be a model of consistency for the Texans before being traded to the Eagles in 2012. He would retire after the 2015 season and land a job coaching with San Francisco in 2017. He'd work his way up to the Defensive Coordinator roll in San Francisco by 2021 where he would produce top defenses in the league. In January 2023, Ryans was named the new head coach of the Houston Texans, the team that drafted him.

It’s a special day for Ethan Glynn.
It’s Ethan’s sixteenth birthday.
The biggest Bama fan in Minnesota, Ethan Glynn will smile his smile.
As he celebrates not only a birthday, but life.
It was nearly ten years ago when Ethan fell in love with the Crimson Tide.
The Bama players walked off the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium stunned.
They had just lost to their rivals in what would become college football’s most amazing finish ever.
But 5-year-old Ethan Glynn was impressed with the class the Crimson Tide showed after the Kick Six.
For nine years, Ethan Glynn looked up to Coach Saban and the Crimson Tide.
The Bloomington, Minnesota resident never missed watching a Bama game, never missed a chance to cheer on the Tide.
And last September when Ethan fell to the ground, paralyzed from the shoulders down after being injured in a high school freshman football game?
Ethan Glynn somehow survived, his first words being, “Roll Tide” when the ventilator was taken out.
Ethan Glynn is celebrating his Sweet 16th today with family and friends.
His parents Corey and Cassidy and his brother Parker will lead that celebration.
Ethan will get out and about, driving his wheelchair with a straw.
He will smile as he sees how the family home is being remodeled to be totally handicap accessible.
He will light up when he sees his Bama Room come together.
He will cherish the jersey of Jalen Hurts, his favorite player.
A year ago, Ethan Glynn was a star football and hockey player, the envy of many.
Today, he’s a young man we can admire.
For Ethan Glynn, the biggest Bama fan in Minnesota, has reached his sixteenth birthday.
Proud of what he’s accomplished.
Excited about what lies ahead.
*Be sure to wish Ethan a happy birthday and offer him a “Roll, Tide”!

We are 33 days from Alabama Football Kickoff! Here is Linebacker, #33, Anfernee Jennings!
Anfernee Jennings came to Alabama in 2015. After redshirting his first season, Jennings would work his was into the rotation as a redshirt freshman before earning a starting role as a sophomore. It was that season where he'd get his first sack and accrue 41 tackles and help the Tide to a National Title win against Georgia. In 2018, Jennings would build upon his success and finish with a team high for pass break ups and recorded 14 tackles for loss. Returning for his final season, Jennings had his best year yet. The 2019 First Team All SEC selection led the Tide with 8 sacks and also brought in 12.5 tackles for loss and 83 total tackles. Jennings bookended his Alabama career with 10 tackles against Michigan. After his success, Jennings would go on to be selected 87th overall by the New England Patriots in the 2020 NFL Draft. Entering his 4th season, he has found a role in the Patriots linebacker rotation that has seen him earn 47 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and 1.5 sacks so far in his career.

Poor ole Ken Darby. He had a heart the size of Texas but rarely did he have crack on the OL to run thru.

He's got to hold the record among Bama RBs that got hit behind the LOS.
He was going to become the 1st Alabama RB with 3 consecutive 1000 yard rushing seasons, but 2006 did not go as well as it needed to for that to happen.

We are 32 days from Alabama Football Kickoff! Here is Linebacker, #32, CJ Mosley!
CJ Mosley came to Alabama in 2010 as a highly recruited linebacker. The 4-star was ranked as the second best player in the state. He would earn playing time as a freshman, earning freshman All American honors. During 2011, Mosley would primarily play pass coverage snaps. His efforts helped the Tide win the 2011 National Championship over LSU. In his next 2 seasons, Mosley would break out as a star on defense. Mosley would lead the Tide in tackles in each. He would be named a first team All SEC selection and Consensus All American twice. In 2012, Alabama would defeat Notre Dame in the National Championship and in 2013, Mosley would win the Butkus award as the nation's best linebacker and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award. Mosley's success with Alabama led to his selection 17th overall by the Baltimore Ravens. He earned a starting role as a rookie and became one of the most consistent linebackers in the NFL. He would be named to the Pro Bowl and was a second team All Pro selection as a rookie. Building on his success, Mosley would earn Pro Bowl and All Pro honors 3 more times in Baltimore before being a contract with the New York Jets in 2019. Mosley would have limited play that season due to injury and opt out of the 2020 season due to the pandemic but return strong in 2021 with a career-high 168 tackles. He was a Pro Bowler and All Pro again in 2022 and looks just as effective as he was in his early career. Mosley and the Jets are one of the top stories to follow headed into 2023. He is the older brother of Jamey Mosley, who also played linebacker at Alabama.

We are 31 days from Alabama Football Kickoff! Here is Linebacker, #31, Will Anderson Jr.
Will Anderson Jr suited up for the Tide from 2020-22. The linebacker was highly recruited, ranked as one of the best players in the state of Georgia. He earned the starting role fast. As a freshman in 2020, he earned league honors and the Tide cruised to a National Championship win in the shortened season. In 2021, Anderson had his best season at Alabama. "The Terminator" tallied 17.5 sacks, unheard of numbers in college, and 101 tackles with 31 tackles for loss. He would earn first place votes at the Heisman ceremony and the Bronko Nagurski award, All SEC, and All American honors. He would take home the SEC's Defensive Player of the Year. Another successful season in 2022 saw Anderson continue to rake in the accolades. He would repeat as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Nagurski winner (only the second player to win twice) and receive another All American and All SEC selection. He'd also take home the Lombardi Award, Lott Trophy, and Bednarik Award. Anderson declared for the draft and was considered a potential first overall selection. He had posted 34.5 sacks at Alabama which ranks second in school history. Anderson would be selected 3rd overall by the Houston Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is ranked as one of the top rookies leading up to the season.
