On a radio recruiting show on 790 the zone in atlanta last nite i heard some interesting things about some GA prospects were are looking at. The show is done by 2 guys who work for Ga public broadcasting and scoreatlanta, a local sports rag. The show is not that good, but it is about recruiting, so I appreciate that as no one really covers this till we get close to NSD. FWIW here goes. First- Watts Danzler. They're saying bama not a factor and is georgias to lose and he is an absolute must for them. Jay Rome big TE. Did not mention Bama as a player and probably a GA commit with their long line of Tight ends they have placed in the NFL. A.J. Johnson. Surprise here as they say he goes to GA Tech in an upset sort of. Also saying he is 266 lbs, is that right? Pretty damn big for a LB if true. Next is Damian Swann, going to Ga, bama was mentioned as a player. RB crowell, mentioned bama and clemson as leaders with clemson in the lead. I have heard him in interviews on the show and he does like clemson but he likes bama too so we'll see. Next is gabe wright. They didn't have an opinion on his preference but says his mother is an auburn fanatic-poor women. Vaughters- A kid I would love to have. Did not mention bama as a player but said he wants to go out of state for sure, again we will see. The only GA player they had as bama lean was xavier dickson. So in their opinion we only get one out of these seven. Me thinks they are greatly under estimating the power of the sabanator. I say we get at least two maybe three. It's really early and things can change so much between now and NSD. Also they said GA is a big player for spencer region from bama, I did not know that. Also they said florence the big safety from bama is the biggest hitter they have seen in a long time, I hope we can steal him from the barn So there it is. GA is really loaded this year with talent. Did you really expect them to say, " bama has cleaned Georgia's clock in recruiting their own state and will do so again this year"? The UGAly staff are pulling out all the stops in recruiting this year because they KNOW their jobs depend on it. Selling early playing time, home state, and whatever else they can muster up to these kids early on because the truth is they have a great chance of sucking it up this year.

Dantlzler just named UGA, UA, and Auburn his top three in a Scout article this week, but I do see him at UGA, even though in a Rivals article this week he basically said all 3 were equal.

Vaughters the latest chatter is OSU and Tsanford are looking very good for his services. I would say that if he goes out of state like many believe he might that he will end up at OSU or Stanford. UA was still in his latest top 8 which he just announced would be making a top 3 very soon.

Rome I haven't heard much about as of late except he will take all of his visits this fall. Still think Clemson a factor with his dad being a star there, but I think how their season goes will also be a factor with alot of recruits.

Swann I still think we are right there for his services.

Crowell I do think if he does not end up at UA he will be UGA. I just don't see Clemson in his future.

Wright just visited UT this past weekend with his mother and said they are now one of his top schools. He gets very excited after each visit, but I think once he gets his mother to our campus we will become the lone leader for his services and if not oh well. To many DTs in the class to get upset about one.

Dickson I say our chances with him seem very good.

The state of Georgia is usually loaded with elite talent but this year seems to be an even better year than normal for top prospects over there. UGA is going extremely hard after all of the Elite 2011 Georgia prospects with an 'AU Prowler' type approach, without the gimmicks and limo. They are calling it the 'Dream Team.'

Almost their entire coaching staff in groups are visiting each of the top in state prospects trying to lock down them down. They are showing each prospect what the UGA class would look like if all of the top in-state talent signed with UGA. They are laying it out in detail to each recruit, offering early playing time, what position they would play, what position others would play, etc. They are also using their commits to establish personal relationships with and work on their top prospects.

I think after what Bama and others schools like Tennessee have done in recruiting the state of Georgia recently the UGA staff may think that getting the top Georgia prospects is a do or die situation this year. This explains the recent comments from Isaiah Crowell, Shannon Brown and some of the other Georgia prospects in my opinion. Another example of the UGA's 'Dream Team' effort is that Georgia WR Justin Scott-Wesley an extremely talented and very fast WR recently decommitted from Stanford and committed to UGA.

Here is the latest from some of these Georgia prospects.

Watts Dantzler - He grew up an UGA fan but he says that he is wide open among his favorites. Bama is at or near the top of his list with UGA, which also includes AU, the Vols and Vandy. I think it will come down to a UGA/Bama battle for him in the end. If I had to pick where he ends up right now I would say UGA. However he says that he is in no hurry to make a decision and NSD is a long way off.

Watts Dantzler - Yahoo! Sports

Jay Rome - He says that he does not have a leader and all his favorites are even right now. He lists his favorites as Clemson, UGA, UF, and Bama. I think he ends up at UGA. Again NSD is a long way off so that could change.

Jay Rome - Yahoo! Sports

A.J. Johnson - He does not even have UGA listed among his long list of favorites that have offered him. He says that his top two favorites are UF and Clemson and that Bama, GT, and Tennessee are recruiting him hard. I think he will end up at UF.

A.J. Johnson - Yahoo! Sports

Damian Swann - He said early on that Bama was his favorite but recently UGA has caught up and is even with Bama. Bama, UGA, and UF are his top three followed by UK, USC, and VT. This one is too close to call but Bama is in the thick of it with UGA. Even with the strong push by both UGA and UF I think he will end up at Bama.

Damian Swann - Yahoo! Sports

Isaiah Crowell - Early on he said Bama was his leader but now he says that he is wide open and that he does not have an overall favorite. It currently looks like it is between Bama and UGA but he says he will wait until NSD to announce his decision. He may be Bama's # 1 RB prospect and I think he will sign with Bama.

Isaiah Crowell - Yahoo! Sports

Gabriel Wright - Early on he said Bama was his leader but recently he says that he does not have an overall favorite. He says his favorites are Bama, AU, Clemson, FSU, UGA and Tennessee. I think his top four are Bama, AU, UGA, and Clemson in no particular order but that is just my opinion. Right now I don't have a prediction on where he will sign.

Gabriel Wright - Yahoo! Sports

James Vaughters - He recently named his top eight as Bama, UF, UGA, GT, UNC, OSU, Stanford, and USC. He also recently said that he will likely go out of state to school but he is still considering UGA and GT. He says that he likes Ohio State a lot, and he is strongly considering Stanford. I know Bama is pursuing him but right now I have no idea where he may end up.

James Vaughters - Yahoo! Sports

Xzavier Dickson - He says that Bama is his overall favorite and I believe he is a top priority at DE/Jack LB for the Bama staff. He lists his top five favorites as Bama, UGA, UF, GT, and AU in that order. He plans on attending Bama and UGA this summer. I expect Dickson to sign with Bama.

Thanks for a great summary. It's very much appreciated.

Some think that Crowell and Wright strongly favor Bama but are keeping it "down low" for the moment, probably til NSD. Hope so.

Wow really? I'm surprised you think Crowell will sign with us but then no prediction for Wright... even though both have kinda backed off saying Bama was their favorite I still feel more confident for Wright.. (for some reason) lol..

I actually didn't say that I believe that he won't sign with Bama. I just said I don't have a prediction right now. He has said a few things in interviews lately that make me wonder about him and Bama. I think he is a little bit up in the air right now. ;)

I agree here about Wright. I am also wondering if it has to do with several things. One it appears to now be not a package deal. Out of the 2 Crowell was the prize. Not saying GW is not a good player, but if we only got one I would hope it would be Crowell. But the part about no package might also be combined with the fact that this class seems to be pretty deep at top DTs and many of them are looking at us. Not to mention GW seems to be a kid that likes all the attention any time anyone wants to give it to him. I think the combination of all those things that maybe we have backed off a little until he visits with his mom and like I said the other top DTs that are looking at us are just as good if not better of GW decides to go elsewhere.

I agree Crowell is obviously a great back.. but have you seen Wright's film? He's amazing.. not sure who I'd rather have at this point but in my opinion it won't matter. I see both signing with Bama on NSD. They're just playing the game right now.

We have to remember this is the only time in their careers these kids get the choice. Many of the kids love the attention and like to drag it out so they can go to all the campuses and some get to meet some very attractive women on these trips. So why not say that they are open so they can get these visits and in the meantime know all along they are coming to the Capstone.
