Rumor is now fact. Bunn has resigned

Anybody heard that Bunn is stepping down? or has stepped down?

A guy I talked to today said it was on some tweet today.

Edit: Rumor proven true. Linked in my second post. Apparently stepped down citing personal reasons.

“He resigned and really it's just a matter of … I think that Kyle would have to answer about the parting of the ways,” Gaspard said. “I respect Kyle as a coach. Obviously I accepted his resignation

All I need to read....I got the person for the job, BJ Green.

I would say good luck to him but it looks to me like he just screwed us. Now obviously there could other circumstances causing this, but from what Gaspard says above, it doesn't appear that way.

Never mind, just checked and it is true. All over Suttles Twitter right now...

What is this going to do to us this season? How badly will this set us back I guess is my question.

To answer the latter part, imo, the pitching didn't exactly deal it last year with the exception of Kilcrease but I think that is his mentality as a player more than anything. Not cutting Bunn, but how many of the pitchers showed marked improvement? Sure we don't have a bunch of #1's on our team but we got some guys that have talent none-the-less.

Well to me, Nelson finally showed his true potential, but you're right, other than him and Peanut, guys didn't show a whole lot of improvement between the year before and last year. I had that chalked up to having an adjustment period to the "new guy." He brought in a brand new attitude that some of the guys may not have been "used" to.

From beginning of the year to the end of the year though, I think we all saw improvements from guys like Morgan and Hawley, with some bright spots in some of the other young guys that just couldn't break through. I wasn't willing to judge the guy without everybody being able to go through a full uninterrupted offseason or two with him and his "regime."

Missed this one ck, but yeah I think you're right. Without knowing the personal reasons it's a little unfair to judge him, but on the surface it sounds like he screwed us over big time.

What makes you think BJ Green is getting the job?

Its not that I think he is getting it, he is the one that I would like to see get it. He is an Alabama baseball guy, he knows his way around the place, is respected there (for his playing days and his trails and tribulations afterwards). Just my pick. While Bunn had nice credentials, and he would have probably turned the pitching staff into something dominant over time after recruiting a few years, he has shown the propensity to not stay anywhere for very long. I think a guy like BJ stays at Bama as long as he wants because he will do a great job.

Can I let you guys in on a secret? This is a great thing! I've heard the pitching staff was throwing a party over this bit of news. Bunn's coaching style didn't mix with Dax and Mitch's style. Gaspard and Norris are players coaches that the players love. Their style of bust it on the field, play hard, get after it attitude and then in the clubhouse, relaxed and loose is a players dream. The position players got to enjoy the clubhouse being loose, listening to "Lil Wayne" and "Gucci" being upbeat and having a great atmosphere.

This pitching staff on the other hand was basically in the military! Short hair, No facial hair, no loud music, no nasty jokes, No being a kid!! I was told, our pitching staff ran more than the US Army and Marines combined. Pitchers was loosing mass amounts of muscle and weight and there was signs of pitching talent going backwards. Their clubhouse atmosphere was tight laced and dreaded. These pitchers was coached out of a book , i.e. trying to be made the same (cookie cutter) ask Matt Taylor.

We lost 2 pitching recruits 2012", the kid from Oxford HS committed to Georgia Tech

This will be a good thing in the long run. I hear the pitchers are rejoicing and I seen some of their facebook chatter last night, "Merry Christmas" to each other,

Now in terms of a replacement, I hope they don't just hire anyone to "get em by" Even if we didn't have a pitching coach this year to wait on someone really good would be fine with me.

I've heard some early names already, 2 college guys and 2 high school coaches.

Know this, as long as Gaspard and Norris are here we will be fine.

ROLL TIDE!!!! "Play Ball"

I agree... I'm thinking we need to hear some names haha. Just for kicks, let's throw Pierce's name in there, or the guy from Shelton.

But seriously, who's on your wish list right now?

The recruit that committed to GA Tech might be a possibility. I know him from EC and thought he would have gone to auburn because he was a BIG au fan. Alabama was not a option with Bunn there because he & I know several guys at Clemson who were very glad to see him move on.
