ACC and PAC 12 Demise seems close (FSU officially stating intentions to fight ACC Grant of Rights… Clemson sues the ACC)

I think, if FSU and other ACC schools decide to leave, ESPN will be willing to pay the SEC more if they take those teams. If they go to the BIG 10 ESPN loses the rights to broadcast those teams unless they play at an ESPN affiliated school. I don't think ESPN will want to give up FSU, Clemson, North Carolina, and Virginia to FOX without a fight and if it takes paying the SEC to be able to expand they will do it.

More conference shakeups (my best guess reading the tea leaves… and the internets)
… AZ, Az St, UT prob leaving PAC12 and joining CO in Big 12.
… ORE & Wash prob joining USC & UCLA and going to Big 10.
…FSU & Clemson prob leaving ACC and going to SEC.

See FSU AD statement below…

It’s on…

Is the new revised revenue sharing thing a sure agreed upon thing already? I wondered if he was putting public pressure on the acc to “accept it or we’re gone” type of deal. But with all this stuff coming out this afternoon looks like they’re just gonna try and buy their way out

FSU in the SEC would boost their recruiting. The better players want to face the tougher competition.FSU in the Big 10 would kill their recruiting. Florida and South Georgia players wouldn’t be happy playing in Minnesota in November.

It’s wild to me that the big 12 doesn’t want Oregon st nor wash st but is very interested in smu

My (not so) humble take on how this really should play out…

Big 12, sec, big 10/11/14 should leave ncaa and only play each other. Maybe acc too if they humbly beg. Leave pac12 to rot. Form 4 conferences of 16 teams each. Round robin 9 games in conf + 2 ooc. Top 2 in each play for conf champ. Top 4 in each get to playoffs. Conf chMp game winners are seeded #1-4 so winning game matters. What could be better?
This makes too much sense @BamaNation so it will probably never happen. I like it though.

I don't understand the trepidation if FSU joins the Big 10. I say let 'em go. The SEC doesn't need another potential gorilla. And I'm of the opinion FSU would cease to be a powerhouse if they join the Big 10. For every OSU and Michigan and USC they'd play, they'd also play a parade of Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, Mich. State... all yawners if you're accustomed to more localized football. (OK... ACC has it's share of yawners, but I'm on a roll...:p ) Not to mention the travel issues for players, families, and fans.

If I'm FSU, it's SEC or bust. If I'm the SEC, I don't need another powerhouse. So if I'm plotting FSU strategy, I make noise like I'm going to the Big 10 and hope I can spook a reactive response from the SEC... "Uh oh... FSU is looking at the BIG! We better grab 'em to keep the BIG outta' the deep south!"

I hope the SEC doesn't fall for it.

If the pac 12 and acc do fall I hope we all go to 24 teams and shut the American out

They have a huge fanbase and a fertile recruiting ground - with the right coach (which they may already have in Norvell) they'll be back.

FSU ≠ Nebraska
I’m not saying they do (equal Nebraska).

I do think it will be extremely difficult to replicate their Bobby Bowden era level of prestige if they move to the SEC though.

But you are absolutely right about the details. If they can stay in the ACC, they stand a better chance of being “back.”

I think they'd immediately be a top five-ish team in the SEC, and that ignores the inherent upgrades that would come quickly via SEC money / recruiting.

I'm no FSU fan, but I think they're a lot closer to being a contender than most realize.

Makes me wish we weren’t doing away with divisions. We could stick them in Georgia’s division.

I mean, you’re probably right. Other than Alabama and Georgia, I’m not sure who is currently clearly better than they are as far as SEC teams go. They did beat LSU last year.
