The brilliant football minds at Aflac & ABC kinda missed the mark on today's triva.

They asked how many head coaches had hit the field for BAMA since Paterno has coached for Penn State. They missed one... and I kinda thought they might.

I had 9. They had 8.

Bryant
Perkins
Curry
Stallings
Dubose
Francione
Shula
Saban

AND... as they forgot... JOE KINES!!

How do you forget ol' Joe?!?

He was never an official HC. He was listed as Interim. And Price never took the field. Therefore... 8.

He was the interim HC. He wasn't "named" HC.
Yep... and interim HC means that day... on that field... in that game he was head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. That was the question... how many Head Coaches "took the field" since Paterno began coaching at PSU.

Joe Kines Wikipedia: "Kines returned as defensive coordinator at the University of Alabama in 2003 and remained in that position until head coach Mike Shula was fired on November 27, 2006. Kines was named interim HEAD coach and guided Alabama in the Independence Bowl where they lost to Oklahoma State, 34–31."

If you look at the number of presidents the University has had in its history, it doesn't count interim presidents toward its total. That's my logic behind it.

I'm sure the U of A (as all of us) would like to forget that moment in time in our history... as well as the fiasco called Mike Price... but call it what you want, it happened. Google it and historically you'll see the whole world outside of The University referred to him as "interim head coach". There are still plenty of news articles out there to be found that were written at that time.

Price definitely didn't apply to the trivia question, as they mentioned in the broadcast... "on the field" as an exception for him. However that night, Coach Kines was our head coach... and he was there on the field. And he actually did a dang good job at nearly pulling it off.

I think at this point, it's pretty much revisionist history, semantics and how each of us choose to remember it.

ROLL TIDE y'all!

You. Are. Wrong. Calm down.
Dude, chill. I'm having a conversation. Hence the "smiley" and "haha" in the title. You're entitled to your opinion... but that's all it is. This is a forum, right? We all have the right to our own opinion, if I'm correct?

Dartigan, I think you're arguing with someone who can't be older than twelve. The answer is eight and we both understand that.

It is really not that hard to understand that Joe Kines was an interim head coach and does not count toward official totals.

You'd have to be 12 to even want to argue with me! It's a one sided argument... and I'm not in it. Just posting some food for thought. But you'd have to take time to think, obviously. Geez folks. Y'all sure are a defensive bunch here. Thought it would be fun to chat about it. Forget it.

Yes, you are entitled to an opinion. Unfortunately opinions don't fare so well regarding trivia questions.

If you have an opinion about something else, I'm willing and able to listen, but don't lambaste the question as being wrong while being misinformed. Wikipedia isn't an authoritative source on anything. Having said that, I'm sure OreBama is correct, so I'm not going to argue with you...

Well... have a good day at work tomorrow at Aflac. You're taking this so personally... I'm gonna have to guess you're an employee of the company.
