AJ McCarron back from UA Camp

is that a good thing?

Maybe he is a clone of BC and will be at Bama during a period where his extraordinary talents can really shine and he can reach his full potential.

Had BC been at Bama during any other time period his success would have been phenomenal.

He's already got more touch than BC ever had at this level. I don't buy the argument that he quit looking at FSU b/c of Manuel. This kid should not be afraid of ANY competition.

A.J. McCarron was in Tuscaloosa this week for the Tide's camp. McCarron, 6-foot-4, 190-pounds, spent three days throwing to some of the nation's top wide receiver including Julio Jones and Burton Scott among others
I would have loved to have seen that!! :)

You can see him throwing to Mark Barron and Destin Hood here.

Looks like he's got some happy feet. Either that or he's got a weird jump step after he finishes his drop back into the pocket. You do see that sort of thing with mobile quarterbacks, as he obviously is. But then again, he was just a sophomore in those videos. I guess we can't expect him to be completely polished already, can we? At least not until he's under Coach Applewhite's tutelage. ;)

I would like to have both Star Jackson and AJ McCarron but McCarron looks to be the better passer. With proper foot work this kid will be awesome even more. Good wheels as well.

That kid is all arm. It's an amazing arm - great strength and accuracy - but he's got horrible footwork and never puts his body into the throws. Once he does that his passing strength is going to be closer to JaMarcus Russell. Decent mobility and good field vision.

From what I see he's got all of the things you can't teach a kid - and having him work for 4-5 years with Applewhite is going to turn him into a beast if we can get him.

I always thought McElroy's tape looked impressive and he was a much more polished QB but this kid has amazing potential IMO.
