Alabama DC Search (2017)

He was offered I am certain. Quietly offered and quietly declined. Big $ was available, but wanted to stay since he's only 1year in at Temple. Would have been a raise for him. Coach Saban has liked Collins for a long time and has stayed in close touch.

Not doubting, but can you imagine the eruption in the college football world if a head coach left to be a coordinator?

Well my well-placed insider said.....nothing I have no insider info so I will speculate and call it inside information [emoji23].

BTW- not directed at the real board insiders who give us GREAT information. I appreciate all you do. But these days it seems everyone with an internet connection is an “insider.”

Crimsonaudio, I hear what you're saying, but Chavis with one head coach is one thing, Chavis with CNS and our recruits is another. While I agree with you, at the same time I can't help but wonder. IMO, he's a good DC. I don't like facing him.

Chavis is washed up and not even close to a philosophical fit. No thanks!

As CA posted, he already makes $2 million. No way we pay him more than that.

Yeah, but maybe he doesn't like it there, maybe he'd prefer to be a DC at a high profile program again. I don't know. The worst thing he can do is say no, if you've identified him as a candidate.

I'm not suggesting Saban might not offer a HC the position, the point is I have zero belief that Bama is going to offer a DC >$2m/year, which was part of the claim.

Gotcha. I agree that the salary wouldn't be $2m+/year, but you never know if 1.2-1.5 might work. Unless you ask.

In all of this conversation, one thing to keep in mind. If other teams aren't interested in our staff, then we have the wrong staff.
Same is true of employees in any industry/field.
As an administrator I was always proud when other schools raided my staff. It told me I was hiring the right people.
