The ORIGINAL Dreamland in Tuscaloosa is the only one worth a damn. ATL, B'ham, I can say first first hand, are the suck. Mobile and the rest, including the others in Tuscaloosa I can only report what I have been told.

I wonder if milton McGregor is backing the Govs bet.?.?.?

Gold's in Atmore is better than Dreamland. Dreamland ribs may not be awful, but there are too many other joints that are better. In Mobile, I'd ather have Saucy Q's or Rodger's. I have had great BBQ all over but these places are within 50 miles. The Bama governor should have put up some Priester's pecans or Conecuh sausage.
Oranges are good but come on. Maybe they should have wagered Florida coke against Alabama crack.
Gator, you're right, Conecuh sausage would have been great. But I still can't find BBQ down here that's any good at all - so maybe BBQ for Crist is a great idea - show him what they REALLY taste like. Oranges - you can get on the turnpike for cheap, maybe orange products - like marmalade, honey, etc would be good.

Can you get Conecuh sausage in Orlando? Conecuh sausage is the BEST store bought sausage in the world.

The first time I ate Dreamland ribs was 1994 (Tuscaloosa and the owner/founder was sitting there by the brick pit). I ate there 3 days straight. I'd been telling people worldwide (Army) about how good Dreamland's ribs were. I stopped through there with a friend of mine in 2004. I was so embarassed. The ribs were awful, I couldn't believe it was the same place. I should've known sometjhing was wrong because the parking lot was paved and the dogs that slept by the front door were gone.

I don't know what happened to Big Bob Gibson's either. I haven't eaten there in a while, but when I was growing up it was delicious (Huntsville and Decatur locations). I ate at the one in Huntsville a couple of years ago and it sucked just as bad as Dreamland. I guess the new generation that takes over these businesses doesn't take pride in their products the way the originators did. They just see it as a way to make a lot of money and the quality goes down immediately.

Oh yeah, I would still take Dreamland or Gibson's over any BBQ I've had since I've been in FL. This crap down here is disgusting.
