Brennen Norton produced his first multi-homer game in the winning effort

3/1/2025

TUSCALOOSA, AL –
Alabama baseball held off a late Bisons charge in the final inning to claim the series victory over North Dakota State with a 9-7 win on Saturday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The victory improves the Crimson Tide to a perfect 11-0 thus far in 2025.

Brennen Norton boosted the Tide lineup, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. Justin Lebron shook off a hitless night on Friday by managing a 3-for-5 day on Saturday, including a home run and two RBI. In the cleanup spot, Jason Torres finished 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI, marking the second consecutive day the Tide third baseman has gone deep. Richie Bonomolo Jr. continued to produce out of the nine-hole, as the junior outfielder doubled twice, worked a pair of walks and stole a base to encompass his 2-for-2 afternoon.

Riley Quick (3-0) earned his third win in as many starts, tossing 4.0 innings while surrendering just two runs to go with one walk and five strikeouts. Matthew Heiberger and Hagan Banks both notched scoreless appearances out of the bullpen, combining to allow just two hits. As the game tightened in the final inning, closer Carson Ozmer entered from the bullpen to pick up the final two outs of the contest, cementing the Alabama win.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"We played good enough to win, but we let them hang around. It wasn't like our pitchers got hit hard, but we left the door open to a squibber here, a bloop here, a walk here, and all of a sudden, they're back in the game. It was good to see (Carson) Ozmer get another touch today, first time of the year he's gone back-to-back which we don't necessarily want to do, but it's good to see because he's going to be called on to do that. At the end of the day, we got it done. It wasn't a poor performance in any way, shape or form, I just didn't think we came out and really finished."

  • B5 I After Coleman Mizell and Will Hodo both earned walks, Norton clubbed a two-out, three-run home run for his second round-tripper of the afternoon. (6-2, Alabama)
  • B7 I Mizell reached on a fielder's choice and subsequently scored following Jason Torres' two-run home run to left-center. (8-2, Alabama)
