The game is Wednesday night. Today Gottfried mentioned Hendrix's ankle was still sore and would most likely not be 100% Wednesday, so Richard may not play.

How would the rotation be set up then? I'm not sure, but purely guessing I think (based on Arky game) CMG really wants to run zone more and I bet we will see a lot of it Wednesday if Richard can't play. It should help our size and protect us from fouls...just a guess by me.

if we run zone, it may get ugly if they are hot from beyond the arc.

We may want to take our chances, as we can't defend the three in man wither. :biggrin2: We are currently dead last in the SEC with a 37% three-point field goal percentage defense.

As noted in the other thread, I am not a zone guy, but we would certainly be more athletic with the lineup that could play it Wednesday if Hendrix is out.

I don't think Georgia will be. As a team, the Bulldogs shoot just 33% from beyond the arc. They're a fairly big team and rebound by committee. The only real threat from three is Billy Humphrey (39.5%). Sundiata Gaines shoots only 26% from three. The Bulldogs play big, though, so losing Richard (potentially) certainly hurts, obviously.

Unfortunately, everybody seems to just make shots they wouldn't normally make against us, or at least that's the spin on it. It will be particularly bad if we have to protect ourselves down low with a zone if Hendrix is out, unless something drastically changes from what I have seen so far this season.

I don't think UGA is a very good team, which gives us a chance even though we don't normally play well in Athens. Heck, it took a miraculous shot by Steele to beat them in T-town last year and with this being an SEC game, on the road, it doesn't bode well for the good guys. I've seen this scenario enough over the past nine years to know what to expect, unfortunately.

Of course I'd like to see us win and get something positive going with MSU coming in this weekend. I don't care for Stansbury and look forward to watching us beat him/them in person.

I retract this statement. 0 and 16 is a possibility. At least it would get me a new head coach which I am all for. You can say lateral move all you want, Nah uh, CMG is awful I am almost willing to bet some of us could have rolled a ball out there and coached the teams CMG had to the Tourney and we were 10 seeds twice thats terrible, just like CMG.

I saw UGA and MSU play Saturday in Starkville and then I headed to Fayetteville for our game on Sunday and guys, there is no way that we should lose to UGA even if it is in Athens. They have soft big guys that aren't worth anything,(Without Richard it will be tough). I will give UGA credit at times they play some intense defense but they can't stick with it very long.

I think with a win Wednesday night, I can see us winning 5 games in a row. Wow I can't believe I said that but somebody has to beat UT and it might as well be us.

Losing Takais Brown on the inside hurts them big-time. And with Mike Mercer gone from the perimeter, this team lacks that one guy to dominate a game. Could be Billy Humphrey, but this should be a W.

interesting, you entered the basketball board and clicked on a particular thread to ask if we have a basketball team?

I thought it was cleverly sarcastic. I've posted on this forum for as long as I've been on Tidefans. It was a sarcastic comment in regards to the overall lack of enthusiasm towards the team this year. I used to follow Bama basketball big time. But I (like most fans) find myself following less and less each year, month, week and day. I barely check the boxscores anymore :(

I am glad that you speak for all of us "fans" I understand the discontent but i still do more than "check the box scores".

As for pvilles comment.....that is like saying "If we get hot from behind the arc it could get ugly for georgia" Or "If Georgia decides to lay on the court and lick the sole of their shoes, then we should be able to win the game" I am just looking for a little more insight in my comments.

Same here. I used to post here regularly. Growing up I followed both sports equally. It seems the last few years have seen me become very indifferent to b'ball.

Will be at the game tonight. Only live about an hour from Athens. I feel this is a must win. If we loose, not only to we start the conf season 0-3 but we loose to a uga team that is weak. I don't see us recovering from that. I'm not saying we don't have a winning season but we won't make the "Big Dance".

My concern over the last three to four years has been a lack of defensive intensity. We have left too many men open for easy shots. If the defense picks up, we win this game easy.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this game available online or TV? I don't have the yahoo package but will pay (like the Iowa State game) if it's available. Also- I agree with most that this game is very critical for our team. No way around it, we're in big trouble if we lose to these guys.

It is obvious that this game is a must-win. After Georgia our next 4 games are at home. If we can take care of the Dawgs and win all 4 at home then we'll be 5-2 in the conference with a quality win over Tennessee. This is of course the best case scenario. I think we are to the point of tanking the season or turning this thing around. It all starts tonight!

If we lose tonight I think we follow that up with a 1-4 record through our following 5 games. We SHOULD beat the cows because they are very banged up. Miss St. is playing decent right now. Tennesee is possibly the best team in the confrence if they can rebound a little better. LSU is a possible win, but I believe we only get one out of the two between the cows and LSU. Then we follow that up with Miss St. at Starkville.

IF we win tonight though it could set us up for a nice home stand over the next 4 games before we travel to Starkville. This game tonight could very well determine the rest of the season for us.
