For the life of me I'll never understand why people buy these things, but just in case you do have one, you should read this...

"The 'Do Not Send Voice Recordings' setting on Alexa is being discontinued on March 28. Anybody who has the setting enabled will have it automatically revoked, and Amazon will then be able to process your voice recordings. Amazon claims it will delete the recordings once it’s done processing your request."

Amazon will now listen to everything you say when they switch over to Alexa+, the new AI-powered version of their Alexa voice assistant which is replacing old-school Alexa. The only way Amazon won't listen to everything you say from now on is if you stop using Alexa cold turkey.

Fits for me. No Facebook. No Instagram. No Pinterest. No whatever is the successor to those platforms. No Alexa. No Siri. No home control system of any kind.

Don’t even have old stuff to worry about deleting because I‘ve never had any of ’em. Never will.

Closest thing I have to any of that is TideFans.

I tried to tell my wife and daughter all of this several years ago but they still were so enamored with the technology it ended up in my house and is still there. There's no doubt everything said in my house is being recorded. Now whether it is actually being listened to and given any attention is up for debate. I can't stand the dang thing but oh well. Maybe someone will take all of our recordings and make a better version of household with someone else, LOL!

All these devices are listening to you. Just look at your phone settings and see how many apps have or want permission to use the microphone.

Google sure does. I have had discussions about certain purchases and then start getting ads for the very thing we discuss. Not even Googling the item just talking about it out loud. Google is always listening, but Alexa is just asking for even more trouble

I keep Google Assistant off. That way it's not blatantly obvious that they are listening in.

It is just a matter of time before governments attempt to get hold of those recordings. Never mind that the recordings took place before wiretap warrants were issued.

Could be extreme left or right governments. Either way, both are authoritarian.

It's not paranoid if they really are out to get you. No blue font.

Did I say I have no faith in governmental integrity? I have no faith in governmental integrity.
