"Andre is more of a power player at 330 pounds and Jason Smith and Monroe are more finesse and the combine is more about finesse."
Since when has playing on the line of scrimmage become a finesse game? I guess I missed the memo. I know I'm a Bama fan, but anybody who takes Jason Smith or Monroe above Andre will feel like a fool when he's a 5-8 time pro-bowler. He's had only 7 sacks his whole college career (starting from game 1 of his freshmen year, 5 of his sacks came in that season), 1 sack his senior year (he misread the front and thought the edge blitzer was an LB dropping and doubled the interior DL), and is the most dominating run blocker I've seen in the SEC in all my years of watching SEC football. He may not be an NFL left tackle long-term, but he will turn any team who drafts him into a top 5 run team...and we know that is what wins ball games and championships.
McShay might be employed by ESPN only to make hair-grease - oops, I mean Kiper - look like a draft genius. I don't know what's his deal. He also criticizes Smith for not deciding to run the drills at the combine in favor of the Alabama Pro Day. Maybe it's because the staff is running the pro day and it will probably look a lot like our practices: fast-paced, no-nonsense, and pro-like. He can do the same thing Jason Smith and Monroe will do, but he will do it in an atmosphere that shows he's mentally ready to be their pro.
