Anyone else as confident in Mac as I am?

I have confidence in the team because they're playing a program that hasn't won an SEC game in 2 years.

I have confidence that Mac will have decent numbers because he's surrounded by a spectacular supporting cast.

I have no confidence he can beat LSU.

Right there with you. Big fan of Mac's and I don't think the offense will miss a beat honestly.

My one request is to have "return of the Mac" play when he takes the field. Won't happen, but god I would love it lol. If receivers catch those 2 drops (ifs and buts candy and nuts I know) he's 8/11 passing. Coming in cold didn't help him at all. Against arky I'm not worried at all, L8U is a different animal however.

Thanks for starting this thread. Everything I’ve read and heard about Mac makes me optimistic we’ll continue to be talking about how our backup QB’s save the day.

Mac's level of success will start and end with the OL. If they will give him just a couple of seconds extra, he will be very effective. Unlike some of you guys, I'm not that confident in this OL to sustain their blocks or even get to their blocks.

I wouldn't say I'm confident -- just because I haven't seen him put any real drives together in a game....

I think we win --

But, I remember all to well the days where the offense kept stalling, and kept lesser teams in the game.....we didn't many of those, but I'm not confident in Mac at the moment.

I'm confident in the team....

He really hasn't earned anyone's confidence yet. You may trust Saban and Sark -- but how can you trust him yet?

Why? Even with the early lineup juggling, this OL has only given up 9 sacks all year. Run blocking needs to continue to improve, but they've been pretty dang solid in pass pro.

Correct me if I’m wrong but this is the first time Mac has gotten to practice with the ones during the regular season. That’s got to be very valuable for him.

I suspect those 2 drops were caused by the opposite spin from Mac’s right hand vs Tia’s left hand.

Mac reminds me more of Greg McElroy than A.J. or Jake Coker. He does not appear as athletic as Coker, nor possess the passing skills of A.J., but we did okay with McElroy. Even though this is his first start we have enough firepower to beat Arkansas. LSU is a totally different story. I will withhold my thoughts on Mac and his prospects against LSU after I have watched his performance against a not very good Arkansas team.
He reminds me a McElroy as well....I think he will do great Saturday.

The big difference between McElroy teams and this Mac Jones team is....Greg had a stellar defense and wasn't usually asked to do a lot. Don't think that'll be a big deal vs. Arkansas though....vs. LSU, well, we will see.

I hope Tua is back and somewhat close to 85-90%+ for L8U but if not I'm not going to just concede the victory to them before the game is played.

L8U looks really great of Offense (#2 Nationally) no question and they have a near Top 25 Defense (26th Nationally).

We also have REALLY good Offensive personnel (#4 Nationally) and an growing, learning, and improving Defense (13th Nationally).

Burrow looks like an unstoppable Heisman Candidate and Mac is most likely a 'Game Manager' type QB.....

Reminds of a game from 2009..... that not many thought we would we win..... or that McElroy could or would out duel Tim Tebow.

But we DID Win.... and McElroy flat outplayed Tebow. We came in as underdogs and whipped their butts.

Others around here can fold up the tent and quit but I'm not.

The reality is that nobody knows until he does it (or doesn't).

Cardale Jones was a THIRD-string QB.....who led the Buckeyes to a national title they supposedly had no chance of winning.

Ryan Mallett left the 2010 Auburn game with a concussion and the backup Hawg (Tyler Wilson) came on and threw for 332 yards in a little more than one half.
Yes, Arky lost - but that's because Cam Newton put 65 points on them.

Jamelle Holieway won a national title after Troy Aikman got injured in 1985 at Oklahoma.

There's a difference between "not Tua" and "not good enough to play as starting QB for Alabama."

Yes I'm confident in him and the team this weekend. And I will concede nothing should he be the starter beyond that.

Some seem to think we had Tua and nothing else. I know he is our most important player, if one were to rank such things, but all of the other guys around him were critical as well. Having the benefit of a full week of practice as the starter will do wonders for Mac.

Any way you figure it, this should be an interesting game...and perhaps a preview of our offense next year.

2.5 years in system, 4 NFL wideouts, 2 really good backs, O-line is finally gelling and getting all first team reps this week. Granted he's not Tua, but we don't need him to be. Other forums I've visited has a sky is falling mentality and I'm just not seeing it.
Great post!

I'm with ya 100%!

Ran into a Bama buddy who lives here yesterday and we had a small chat and he was bemoaning the loss of Tua and he didn't think they'd beat LSU...etc. etc.

I said:

Said all he has to do is get the ball in the play maker's hands and they will do the rest.

Just don't turn the ball over!
