Do you mean fried plantains?

If so:

INGREDIENTS
2 cups vegetable oil for frying
3 plantains, peeled and sliced into 1-inch pieces
salt to taste
garlic powder to taste
DIRECTIONS
Place plantain slices in a salt water soak while you heat the oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Place a few plantain slices in the oil, and cook until lightly golden in color, about three minutes. Drain on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining slices.
While the plantain slices are still warm, place them one at a time between two sheets of wax paper, and flatten by hand to 1/4 inch thick. Return flattened slices to the skillet, and continue frying until golden brown. Drain on paper towels, and season with salt and garlic powder.

DELICIOUS TOSTONES!!!!!

Bananas Foster Recipe

Probably one of the most famous and asked for items on Brennan's menu in New Orleans.

INGREDIENTS:

4 bananas cut in half then split down the middle
1/2 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup banana liquor
1/4 cup dark rum
8 scoops vanilla ice cream

DIRECTIONS:

Melt butter in saute pan, add brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir together to make a caramel. Remove from heat and add banana liquor and the bananas. Cook till bananas begin to get soft and start to brown a little. Remove from heat again and add rum. Tilt pan over flame of gas stove or use a long match on electric to ignite the rum vapors. When flames subside place 2 scoops of ice cream in bowl, put 4 quarters of banana on the sides and spoon the caramel sauce over top of the ice cream.

Serves 4 (sometimes)

Two very different ways to prepare them

FRIED BANANAS

2-6 Bananas
Aunt Jemima Butter milk complete pancake & waffle mix
frying oil
sprinkle of ground cinnamon
sprinkle of sugar

This is simple as making pancakes.

First, slice up the bananas into quarter pieces. combine pancake mix with water or milk, whichever you prefer.

Dip Bananas in batter and fry in oil until golden brown.

Lastly, while still hot, sprinkle cinnamon & sugar over cooked bananas.

or

Thai Fried Bananas

Start with some ripe bananas and frozen spring-roll wrappers (the small ones are preferred). Allow wrappers to thaw for 5-10 minutes, then open packet and carefully separate 5-10 wrappers (or as many as you wish to make). Peel the same number of bananas. You may have to slice the banana to fit the wrapper

Place a banana in the center of a wrapper. Grasp either side of wrapper and bring toward the center

After bringing in the sides, begin to roll by tucking the bottom end of wrapper over banana.
Tuck the end under banana and continue to roll.

Roll until banana is completely wrapped. Secure by dipping fingers in a little water and wetting the end to "seal" (like an envelope).

Carefully place wrapped bananas into about 1 inch heated cooking oil. The oil is hot enough when bubbles begin to rise from the bottom of pan. Or test by dipping end of wrapped banana in the oil - if it sizzles and begins to fry, it is ready. Note: do not overheat oil - maintain at a medium-high temperature (between 5 and 7 on the dial).

Bananas are ready when they turn a golden brown. Remove from heat and place on a towel or absorbent paper

Enjoy fried bananas while still hot. You can top with warm chocolate sauce and cold vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

dvldog - you are a humorous devil! Case in point-you are correct! I "fry" real bananas-Chicita brand-(might have mispelled that S.A. name!) in a bit of butter, and add some cinnamon, sometimes fresh grated nutmeg, and a little raw sugar-delicious!
P.S. I do Chilton County Peaches the same way! ...if I have any left after I've peeled and eaten a half dozen or so!

The peaches sound wonderful. I am passing this along to my wife. She will probably consider this a challenge. She cooks TOO good.:biggrin2:

Peaches are also good cooked out on a bbq grill. Don't use bbq sauce on them or dry rubs. ;)

Just so you don't 'get in a rut'....with the peaches I add brown sugar while they're sauteing...er, frying! And sometimes to cut down on amt. of butter, I add fresh o.j.! Add a dollop of whipping cream or good ice cream....man, am I starving ... and I just finished lunch! (Rainier Cherries-no peaches!!):)

No Heinz 57 or A1 sauce? :biggrin2:

What about a little Wild Turkey, SoCo, or Peach schnops?
Do you keep schnops in freezer? If not, you should try it-won't freeze and oh, ever so good that cold! Of course, I do this because it takes me so long to use up a bottle, but looking @ list above, it might not have enough time to freeze! LOL!:)

No, I have not tried that but I must say I enjoy schnops over ice as a nice evening drink. It goes down easy and can sneak up on you big time. I like apple and peach. Butterscotch is good but a little sweet.
