I also use a French Press but I do still own a 1971 Proctor Silex glass bodied percolator that makes 12 cups. It used to make a good pot of coffee but the Press makes better coffee for me now.

I have contemplated going to a press. Does it really "kick it up a notch"? I had coffee that way at a bistro in Portsmouth, England in '84. My tastes were under developed and ..................it was 25 years ago...don't really remember it.

French Press coffee is slightly stronger.. I think. Use a coarse grind to get less grounds in your cup. I use a heaping teaspoon for every 4 ounce cup. Bring your water to a boil, then wait about ten seconds before pouring it in to the press.. That will be just about the perfect temperature. Let the coffee steep for four minutes before pushing down the plunger, and make sure the plunger is level, cause that will make sure the suction is right and prevent grounds form getting in your coffee. If im the only one drinking the coffee, i usually transfer the coffee to a thermal carafe so that it stays hot longer. Quickest, easiest best tasting method there is.. In my opinion of course.
