I think I read on the USC boards that UA, USC, and Clemson were all visiting this weekend.

A Bone said Rumph was in Sowcarlina today. Take it for what it's worth, he could be getting the rest of his stuff from his old office.

That's all his coach has ever said. Clowney has never said ANYTHING remotely close. Got the coach his own thread though.

I think Clowney's coach is closer to the situation than anyone else. He's always right there at JC's side even on OV's. If the coach says USC is the leader then Clowney has obviously conveyed that sentiment to him.

Maybe so, but I read an article where the coach said 'Bama offered Clowney the best facilities and coaching. I'll try and find it and link it here.

Can Rumph do a in home visit after Saban already took one? I thought our limit on in home visits were up. I'm sure someone on this board will have that knowledge but that could be interesting rangerman

Yes. I don't know the exact number, but assistants can make multiple in-home visits (someone please correct if I'm wrong). However, the head coach can only make 1.

I'm fairly certain the Clowney family will have people over for dinner just about every night until NSD.

Clowney: "But Mom, you made lasagna last night!"
Mom: "Quiet! Coach Rumph likes lasagna!"

Which leads me to a much better question... what does a coach do if a the family cooks some nasty food? When the Bama coach (swimming) did my in-house visit, we had lasagna and he crowed about how good it was... pretty funny really looking back on it.

Never got that impression but he does recognize the position in this scheme, by design is geared for stars to achieve stardom. Rare talent and a perfect fit.

Coach went on at almost embarrassingly length after he and JC visited Tuscaloosa over the summer. And we had an SC poster on this thread who said the prevailing opinion in Columbia is that the coach is no fan of the chickens. FWIW

a la john fulton who I think went to the same school as fulse and rec'd a lot of criticism.

This logic has been applied to why it might be good for an in-state kid to wait as long as possible about announcing for an out-of-state school. If JC waits and chooses Bama it could be for the reason you suggest and that is to delay or shorten the amount of criticism he'll have to hear from the locals.

He is, to the point some Carolina fans have dredged up Lynn Lang. I think he would just like the kid to keep all options open , or maybe go somewhere he may develop into an even better player or person. Most Carolina fans are not even open to the possibility that is the reasoning.
To take it a little further, most there have been saying Mom wants USC, as it is close to home but will listen to whats best for her son and Carroll favors Bama

I'm not gonna lie his recruitment is starting to drag for me I don't think I can handle all this speculation until the 14th. The Bama writers will say he's coming here and the SC guys say he we will go there. I guess we'll just have to see what happens after his next couple visits but for right now who knows.

I think that since his recruitment is so up in the air means good stuff for us. We started out with him being a USCe lean and slowly we kept moving in a little by little to were most people think he's going to USCe BUT wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Bama.

Go read on the USC boards and they all do not like Carrol's coach at all. I also think the reason he is saying that USC is out in front is because he personally taking alot of heat. Up to last month he always seemd to be more proUA and last week he was saying that he did not care what the USC thought he was just stating what he was told. Now based on some of their fans post I believe he is saying what ever he can to get some peace in his corner. Not to mention he going to a new HS to coach next year, so he does not need this from SC people.
