.... then I believe the Boogs should play for the NC. A one loss SEC team/SEC champion should stay ahead of 0 loss TCU and Boise. This is not to say I have anything but dislike for the Boogs on the Plains, but I do think the below par schedules of TCU and more so Boise, should not trump a 1-loss SEC team.

Of course, the ESPN love fest of Boise and their inexorable push for them by Herbstreit and the like, may influence the people polls. They played one ranked team. BFD. Any SEC West team has played at least FIVE ranked teams plus superior sides outside of the Top 25.

While I agree that they should, the BCS is all about timing. If you lose early in the season, you can recover from the loss, but there's no way they can come back from a loss as late in the season as the iron bowl. If we beat them, they will move down to ~7-9, and we will probably be boosted above them.

I also think that the Newton allegations may sway some voters. I don't know if it will be enough to override the computers, but I think some human voters may penalize Auburn due to the allegations and wanting the "most deserving" teams to make it to the NCG.

The 2007 LSU team thinks otherwise. ;)

The boogs could easily still play for the NC if we beat them at BDS. A loss to Alabama in the IB wouldn't hurt them with the computers. Where they wound up would depend on the type of loss and human polls.

If we beat Auburn but Auburn wins the SEC, I think it will be Oregon and Boise. A late lose like that is impossible to recover from in the BCS polls.

If Auburn losses their next two games and LSU wins theirs, then should LSU go over Bosie? That would be the BCS' worst nightmare. I think they should too. If Boise was in the SEC, they would have had at least three losses.

For LSU to go, I would think Auburn would need to beat us (improves LSU's SOS and makes the loss to AU look better) then Auburn lose to South Carolina by a very small margin on a neutral field.

I think it depends. I would say a one loss SEC team would play for the NC game assuming AL beats AU and AU beats USC.

But.......not so fast. Let's say Boise creams a ranked Nevada team. That might sway enough people in the human poll to throw Boise in there.

But I kinda doubt it. Wouldn't surprise me though. This seems to be "the year" for a non automatic qualifier to be a fly in the ointment and go. Let me say this.......if there ever was a year for a non auto qualifier to make it.......this is the year. And it is clear ESPN wants chaos because everybody will tune in to ESPN. Just like PF makes a living on his show out of chaos......ESPN loves it and thrives on it. Herbie keeps throwing Boise out there saying they can play with anybody. So who knows but if I had to bet......I'd bet a one loss SEC team over Boise. I wouldn't bet my retirement money though. Who am I kidding? I don't have any retirement money.

Per the BCS computer "experts", this is true. A close loss to Bama combined with a convincing win in the SECCG would likely put Auburn in the BCSCG. If we crush them, they are probably done.

First, I am not sure if a team that does not win its conference is allowed to go. Aside from that, LSU doesn't have a big enough game left on its schedule to vault it over both BSU and TCU. Arkansas, with another loss, would barely be in the top 25.

However, if Auburn is forced to vacate its wins this season and LSU were to play in the SECCG, it is right back in the hunt.

If that happens (Bama wins Iron Bowl but the barn wins SECCG), then here's what I'd love to see:

BCS Championship Game: Oregon vs Boise State
- Oregon absolutely creams BSU

Sugar Bowl: Barn vs TCU
- the Barn absolutely creams TCU

This would all but relegate future non-AQ teams' BCSCG hopes to the waste paper bin.

And, while we're at it, I'd like to see this as well:
  • Nebraska loses to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Title game
  • Michigan State loses to Penn State
  • Ohio State loses to Iowa
  • Wisconsin loses to either Michigan or Northwestern
  • Florida State wins the ACC
  • Stanford loses to Cal or Oregon State
  • LSU loses to Arkansas

That's quite a list, but it guarantees a 10-2 Alabama a BCS Bowl. :)
