Athalon is rollng out their projected Top 25 revealing one team per day. We all tracked this last year and thought it would be of interest to my fellow Tidefans. Where do you think Bama will fall on this list? Do yall read the pre-season magazines?

I live for the day that they come out! It isn't so much that they are accurate or have fantastic info.... it is more along the lines of tradition. In the days of old, this was my only way to find info on Bama (in this detail).

Re: Athalon's Top 25

Phil Steele puts out a better magazine than athlon.
I love Phil Steele! His progostications are about as accurate as one can get! But I still buy the Lindy's and Athalon's. I used to buy more of these rags, but after Phil Steele, Athalon, and Lindy... they really really get bad!

Of course, our staff at Tidefans writes the best stuff out there. I wish you guys would do a magazine

I'm guessing between 18 and 22...talking about ya'll.

I wonder if the list was compiled before Perrilloux was dismissed, or is it going to be hot off the press? Before Perrilloux, I would have thought LSU at 4-6, but now, I bet they drop LSU to about 12-15.

The problem with these mags is they go to press when teams are just finishing spring practice. There is no wiggle room if someone gets suspended, returns from suspension, kicked off team, injured, academic casualty, gets killed in a mudslide, chokes to death in a hot dog eating contest, some walk-on becomes Hercules unchained, a player transfers in or out of a program or any number of strange happenings that happen regularly to teams.

I read several of them just for entertainment and to pick up tidbits about players on other teams we may face. I can get this info from other places but I have this magazine rack in the bathroom that just doesn't look right when its empty.

You and I have similar reading habits :eek2: I think we will be looked over by Athalon in their Top 25.

I always enjoy your posts, Fishhead. You and a couple of other LSU posters are great additions to the board.

I think you're overstating the effect of Perrilloux's dismissal. True, neither replacement QB can match him on the field. But I'd have to think Perrilloux wasn't respected by his teammates, and therefore couldn't lead effectively. I really think your team and your program are better, both on the field and off, without him.

Knowing some of the things that have come out about some of our players, this statement comes from hard-earned experience.

I was pretty surprised that my hometown school, Fresno State, got in on the top 25. Of course, in Fresno, this means that the Bulldog fans will be expecting a BCS berth (regardless what happens around the country). It will be interesting to see how Fresno State does now that they lost the biggest factor (I think) in their turnaround - Coach Jim McElwain.

I look forward to when the pre-season magazines start showing up but I only get Phil Steele's, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and Lindy's. My dad and brother will be buying the Pac-10 versions out in California.

those mags should be taken as entertainment. They're fun to read, I like to look at the line ups and rosters for the other teams, but you simply can't put a whole lot of stock into them. It's fun read to pass the time until Fall.
