AU gets away with another one.

Since 2010, when the Ingram fumble bounced 15 yards through the end zone, six inches from going out of bounds, they have been the luckiest football team I've ever witnessed.

Officiating is usually absurdly bad in auburn's game & that's a direct result of their fast paced offense..That's exactly why Gus rides the official's so dang hard when he feels they're not allowing his offense to play as fast as he wants them to..That fast pace causes the refs to miss many many calls & is an advantage to them..It's sickening when he's all over the officials giving them hell to hurry up & place the ball down for his offense..The officials need to control the pace of the game & not an offense..All these player's bust their backside in the off-season & I think it's BS that they can lose a game cause the officials aren't in place to call the call fairly..

My barn friends belly ached to no end how they got hosed by the refs in the State game lol! Truthfully I doubt that the 12 men on the field was intentional. More likely they can't count that high, but intentional? Nahhh!!! Auburn has never cheated on purpose! ;)

Are you living in the Real world? I think that's just part of the Barn's effective game plan. Run the ball so quick with the HUHN that the officials can't take time to see what's going on on the field and with Gus tormenting officials with his yelling as a distraction.

Intentional? Yes! It's probably in their Playbook.

Winning at all costs just to show up your big brother!

This is why their should be minimum time between snaps. Allow the officials to do the bare minimum and make sure both teams don't have more than 11 on the field. Check the offense formation to make sure it is legal. Check for offsides on the defense. No way the officials are checking for these things as fast as AU plays..

These street ball teams are trying to go so fast that they'd snap the ball right out of the refs hands if they could. Fuss'n Gus starts yelling at the refs whenever they stand over the ball for a split second. How are the refs suppose to count to 12 when they don't even have time to turn around? They are so confused that they probably don't even realize a play has started until it is half over.

This is just another example of why the rules need to be changed to keep these hunh teams from getting away with purposely breaking the rules.

So, the officials actually missed 2 calls at once...

Well, not exactly. I think technically - and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong - the penalty isn't that there are 5 in the backfield. The penalty occurs when you don't have enough (at least 7) on the line of scrimmage. Usually, seeing 5 in the backfield is an indication that you only have 6 on the line and are therefore guilty of not having enough. But since the barners were playing with 12, that wasn't the case. They actually did have enough on the line of scrimmage, even with 5 in the backfield.

My point was that they didn't need to count to 12 to see that there was at least an illegal formation. On its surface and at a glance, the formation didn't look right at all because the backfield was so darned crowded. It shouldn't have been hard to spot. But I guess if you only have a half second to spot it before the ball is hiked, it can be a bit more difficult.

Gus is turning college football into the WWF. He's like the legal man out of the ring in a tag team match, jumping up and down and yelling at the referee. Always the heel, I might add.

This is precisely why I do not buy into the Auburn hype. In essence, they confuse and manipulate the officials.

They had a lot of penalties last night. A whole lot. And many of those were infractions that they would've gotten away with in Gerbil-Hair.

Don't know if it is true but it was explained to me that they sent a player in from the sideline and no one left the field. They did not huddle and time out was called before the snap hence no penalty.

So what happens if the defensive lineman just take their time getting back and in position. Do the refs not have to get the defense a chance to get back on the other line of scrimmage and set before they snap the ball. I think I would have my DL just get up slow and take their time. I am sure the SEC officials will have every play they have missed by Auburn sent to them.

Coach Saban needs to ask the referees to be on the lookout for this play before our game on 29 Nov in Tuscaloosa.

A team can be real lucky if the can play with 12 players.

I don't like Gus, but I do respect him as a coach. But for many over here I thought "working" the refs and being animated is a sign of "good coaching". At least that's what people they say that Coach Grant should do over on the basketball forum. So should a football coach being stoic, and a basketball coach constantly "working the officials". I just don't know. I'm not into seeing coaches constantly on the Refs, but that's just me.

Defenses tried this from time to time throughout the years in order to bleed the clock at the end of games. I seem to remember that it can result in delay of game penalties. I could be wrong, though.
