My question is why were there so many Aubies in Tide Pride seats? I would sit on my tickets rather than sell them to an Aubie for such a big game.
I brought this up once to someone in the Athletic Dept. They felt the same way, but didn't think they could do anything about it with the original buyers--once you buy the tickets, they're basically yours to do with whatever you want. Also, a spare set of good tickets might change hands several times. A Tide Pride holder may sell his/her seats in good faith to a faithful Bama fan, who may not be able to make it for some reason. Then maybe they can't make it, and they unload the tickets to a casual fan, who then unloads'em on a Barner, a Vile, or an Ole Mistake.
If you ask anyone around the SEC, the absolute worst fans in the conference wear Orange and Blue. It doesn't matter if they're home or away. They act like they've never been in public before. Spitting, throwing trash, talking trash. In 2003, I went with a friend to the LSU Auburn game in Baton Rouge. Somehow, a group of young Barners had smuggled in a mini boom box and had cranked it up all the way. We asked them three times to turn it off or down. Every time we got the finger. Then someone fetched a law enforcement officer, who promptly confiscated the batteries. The barners spent the rest of the game cussing, hollering, and threatening to kick our butts after the game. This, despite the fact that LSU was putting a first class butt kicking on the Barn on the field.
Sure enough, outside the stadium we're standing and waiting for another group of friends to come out. The idiots walked up to us and started mouthing off again. Before you know it, there are about 40 LSU people facing five drunk rednecks wearing Orange and Blue.
