We're diving into the great unknown here. He could be the next Urban Meyer or he could be the next Butch Jones. Just not much to go on here.
I would say he has shown he can coach. The question is, can he coach & recruit in the SEC. His biggest asset so far seems to be that y'all don't have to pay for a buyout.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
Meyer is a reach - he inherited a 5-6 team at Utah and went 10-2, 12-0 before being hired by UF. He has lots of potential but AU isn't UF, so while time will tell...
Yeah.

A lot of people are holding up his success at Boise as some sort of example of his brilliance. They fail to mention that being at Boise against that level of competition in the MWC is like being handed the keys to a Ferrari.

There's just nothing to go on with this guy. Probably his biggest claim to fame is calling that statue of liberty against Oklahoma in the 07 Fiesta Bowl.

From an Auburn friend (which seems to the sentiment of several AU friends)...
"Remember when Boise used to be really good and beating OK in sugar bowl and making bad bowls every year? Yeah that was before this guy took over."

I'm going to guess that he's no better than Gus's bus, but you'll keep him for 4 years to offset what you're paying Gus to not coach. But he could be the next Urban and surprise all of us. At least, unlike with Freeze and a few of the others mentioned, there's nothing for us to hate from the get go :D

Auburn athletic director Allen Greene said in a statement: "Coach Harsin impressed me with his detailed plan to lead Auburn to consistently compete for championships in the Southeastern Conference."

Interesting. Just leaked... Here's a peek at his 7-part plan:

1) Pray on knees every night that Nick Saban retires.
2) See #1
3) See #1
4) See #1
5) Copy Coach Saban's process
6) Get CNS's recruiting leftovers
7) See #1

My gut is hurting over all the laughter the past couple of days with this rich comedy gold. But, in the end, I think ole barny landed a decent coach. And soon as he recruits some good potato pickers and such maybe they'll see some real success.
