Auburn planning an all-orange Friday

Wow , and I was criticized for living in the past for referencing the past 3 decades. You want to go back 60 years. I wouldn't call that the modern era.

The point, my friend, is that living in the past does not allow you to be selective about the past you live in. The history and tradition of this series is an all or none deal. It's part of what makes it one of college football's most interesting rivalries.

Arbitrarily selecting periods in that history shortchanges the memories of the players, coaches and fans who were a part of the tradition the selector chose to leave out. Why would you want to forget the efforts of Shug Jordan, Terry Beasley and Pat Sullivan? We sure wouldn't want to leave out the efforts of Lee Roy Jordan, Ray Perkins and Johnny Musso.

College football is the sport it is today because of the rich history and tradition. It's uniquely American. You should embrace it.

And on this we agree.. Well said.

If you want to get technical, we are 2/3 vs. Bama with the All Orange. Oh, and and your "little brother" has a winning record over you for the past 30 years. 16-15. I guess you were the runt of the family.
No yall are our lil brother

Alabama leads 39–33–1

RTR!!!:biga:

Bama players! Just hit anyone that looks alive on the field who's wearing ORANGE! Hit them harder than they have ever been hit, then go up into the stands and slap their mommas. Just kidding about the mommas. After all, the mommas may have other younger sons who would want to play for a school with TRADITION: Alabama.

Well, just hit them as hard as you can and help them up after each play. This is the Bama way.

AUOpus,

Not saying I don't believe you, but I am having a really hard time finding video with orange jerseys

Not the players. The fans. The players will wear their standards jerseys. This really isn't a big deal at all.

"fans are encouraged to wear orange"

They will be running around like chickens with their heads cut off looking for orange which they wont find. It's not the players that are wearing orange. It's the fans. You might try to beat up a fan wearing orange, but I assure you it will make your visit at Jordan Hare extremely short and possibly dangerous. There is going to be some hard hitting on the field on both sides. Count on that. Let's just hope no one gets injured. I do love to see a good hit though. :)

I seem to remember many cries from Aubbies over the last decade about "living in the past". OK...let's just go back to the last time we met...Bama is 1-0 and Auburn still hasn't scored.

Let's clarify this. My defensiveness was more cautionary to not discount what history has taught us about either program's futures OR the outcome of any Iron Bowl. Comments like 10 years of domination or the outcome of the game being inevitable are not wise. Do I think Alabama had the better team last year, of course. Do I think they have the better team this year, yes. Do I think the outcome is decided, or that we are doomed to a decade of Saban dominance. History says No.

Well, duh. It took an outside force (NCAA) severly crippling us for Auburn to finally start winning against us. Its kind of like the little brother bragging he finally beat big brother while big brother had a broken leg and broken arm. But that's okay, we understand you have to take what you get.

But on the serious side, let me say its nice to have a civil Auburn fan on the board. Personally, I like having you here. Thanks for representing your school well and putting up with us Bammers. ;)

Its gonna be a bad day in Tigger land when Jordan-Hare is a sea of Crimson with speckles of orange, because all the smart fans(I'm sorry, an oxymoron statement), I forget there are not any smart people in Tiggerville, because the fans are ready for Christmas, they will sell their tickets to Bama fans.

Sea of Crrimson, get the picture:biggrin:

Its really funny how the "fear the thumb" crowd is now preaching the virtues of humility and caution. Its like my 4 year old jumping on his older brother when he isn't looking, but when his brother gets up and chases him down he suddenly has a change of heart and doesn't want to fight anymore.

And you're sure that's me? I guess you know me better than I know myself. Wow, the power of the internet. Now you can extract the thoughts and soul of a person using IP packets. Un--real. Nice analogy though. I have a 4 year old girl. I've already told her about Bammer boys though. She thinks they are all "icky".

AuOpus, I have appreciated your post in the past. But reading your post on this thread, and the tone of your responses, I think this might be a good week for you to step back from the keyboard or hang out on the Aubie boards for a little while.

Just my two cents here, but if the mods catch you on here getting into an argument over the orange deal or a urinating contest over who is going to win, I forsee a PM coming to your mailbox very soon.

I am not a mod, but I did sleep in a Holiday Express last night.

A. I was never in a "urinating" contest on who was going to win. Personally I think we have little to no chance, but a chance after all.

B. I was merely correcting the original poster that the all orange thing was for the fans and not the team colors and we have done it for years. No big deal.

C. This is IRON BOWL week. I am going to be more antagonistic. You have to expect this, but I think from every post I have made I have been considerate and polite.

<edit> I was actually slightly angry reading your post, but I decided that maybe you were right and I need to log off. I made my response slightly less agressive and I will retire for the night.

I know how you aubies are when you get together : ) oddly enough several of my closest friends are AU grads and I know they talked all that fear the thumb mess when they got together without me during that streak. My Alabama buddies talk about how great CNS when we are together, its ok. My AU friends I never speak of football when we are together, its like politics or religion to us and we all know someone would end up getting mad.

Aren't they great at that age? The things he comes up with crack me up, what an imagination. I have only boys but can imagine you would like her to keep thinking they are all "icky" for a long time and don't blame you.
