Rick has a son who is a PR walk on...I wouldn't really classify him as a player.
No. His son has been a regular special teams player since the 2010 season and has been on scholarship IIRC for at least a year now (Barn's got plenty to go around).

I'm sure his family connections didn't hurt in getting him an initial walk on invitation but he's earned his way first onto the field and then into a scholarship. Even Auburn's not going to put someone on the field just for PR.

Belle, we've had this discussion---that bunch of baby chicks will accept, justify and proclaim as saintly what ever Rane, Lowder, Harbert, and Dye tell Jacobs to do. They'll spin it as the greatest thing to ever happen on the plains, plug the network back up and be off an running. No one is going to stand up---if they do they'll be outcast from the family---just like the journalism department.
Oh, I agree with you. What Rick was saying, without saying it, was that the *U family is full of hypocrites. With his son on the team, he can't exactly call the fan base out--he wanted to and I supposed he did in a perfectly passive-aggressive way.

Auburn fans are a joke, just like their football program!

they put Trooper Taylor on the sidelines just for pr, cause he doesn't coach.

This whole thread makes me giddy with excitement. Whenever I have a bad day, I thank God I'm not an Auburn fan, and things automatically get better.

You know times are bad there when the names they are throwing out as possible replacements for cheese include Fran, Rich Rod, and Neil Calloway!

barners are wishing up a star if they think Bobby Petrino will be hired. He has a lot of baggage and his reputation would be used against him at every turn in recruiting. He's a known liar, scumbag and adulterer. Yes he can coach offense (not much defense mind you) but the barn will totally be hypocritical if they hire that POS. If Auburn is willing to give Chizik the axe just two years after winning a national title no big name coach will go there. The presence of Nick Saban at Alabama only makes things tougher. I can see them going after Mark Hudspeth or someone like that but Petrino isn't going to Auburn.

I think where some Bama fans get confused about API is they try to apply logic, like most normal folks would.
but API is not normal or ever logical. They operate on the whims of a very few very wealthy people who see this state school as their own little kingdom & right or wrong it's theirs to do with what they want.

Whatever US normal thinking people think they will do get ready to be surprised.

But really 2 people Lowder & Dye have brought so much shame to this school & their base can not even see that.

In Alabama off "highway59"
Rick and Bubba talked about this exact mindset this morning and made some very good points. Rick spoke about how Auburn fans were all about character and morals and what a great Christian man Chizik was (is) when he was hired. They adored him and talked about how wonderful it was to have a man of God as their football coach. They were ALL IN and it was a GOD thing. Fast forward two years and a 1-5 record and they don't care about morals or character--they only care about winning football games--so much so as to want a coach who is a proven liar and philanderer by the name of Bobby Petrino. Rick was pretty disgusted by it as he has a son on the AU football team. This speaks volumes as to what their fan base is all about. I just wonder if hearing Rick Burgess say it will have an effect on any of those "fair weather" fans?

This is not just indicative of fair weather fans, this applies to all their dyed in the wool, card toting, cultish, awbum fambily members. They will have no problem justifying this picture at all.

It will just be another episode of "all in the fambily".....

and they do truly operate as a cult, brainwashing their "fans", players, and coaches, and using negative reinforcement to keep people "all in". As well, they've bought out the media in order to try and win "hearts and minds" in the state, which can work when they're winning---not so much when they're losing.

Any new updates on the dumpster fire?

Looks like rumors are swirling on the plains about player defections. Looks like "All In" has turned into "I'm Out".

Could we change the title to "total" or "complete" wreck? I see it on top & Auburn & class in the same sentence just ain't right.

So, since *U will go winless against the SEC most likely after having lost to Vanderbilt, can some of the other members post some ITAT musings on here?

Ive been watching the *uburn yo-yo on ITAT and others for a couple of weeks now. Its pretty funny. Right after their games and into Sunday, their entire fan-base wants Chiz gone. Then as you go into Monday, Tuesday, and deeper in the week, they start to calm down and want to give him another year. They look for excuses, play out little scenarios and then determine that Chiz should be given a chance to right the wrongs. Then they get pounded again and it starts all over.

You can tell they played it close this weekend. They have rallied behind Chiz alot quicker today than in previous weeks. Or maybe its that they realize nobody worth a dime is going to come in to replace him.

Or that no coach worth his salt is going to agree to come into a situation where he'll have essentially no power over his team. Most career-minded coaches are interested in positions where their skills and abilities in coaching are the primary reason for their hire. At *U, he'd be nothing more than a puppet to an insane AD, an overbearing former coach and a host of power-hungry boosters. Not exactly a positive career move.

I remember pre season expections ..... bawahaaaaaaa. The aubie defense, in particular, were talking about their new DC, Van Goober, and how they were going to dominate the line. Why were they going to control the D line? Because Van Goober told them they were. Talk is cheap.
