Hey Simon, do you know of anywhere where I could find tapes of the radio calls from Bama games?
While this isn't exactly what you're looking for, Vince Ferrara on 1420 AM in Tuscaloosa does a "Friday Flashback" usually around 7:35-7:40 where they play back the radio call of a past game. It usually is about 5-10 minutes; the playback jumps around to the big plays. Being in Tuscaloosa, I always try to plan my Friday morning commute to work so that I'm in the car for this. Outside of Tuscaloosa, you can listen online here:

Does anyone know how poor lost souls that don't live in Bama and don't get the ppv can get copies of recent bama games. I don't want to pay $20 to see a copy of Bama vs W. Car., but I would still like to actually see the game one time. I realize all the legal issues with streaming the game online on gameday, but is there any free or cheap posts where I could see it the following day? Not trying to do anything illegal, I just want to actually see them with my own eyes on these "lesser" games.

Was there any Iron Bowls televised nationally during the '70's. Seems the oldest one we have is 1980. You'd think there would be older ones available.
Probably not. Auburn wasn't always a very good team during the 70's. That, combined with the television rules of the day (I think that was no more than 3 appearances in a two year time, excluding bowl games) did not lend itself to seeing the Iron Bowl every year. Back then, we only had ABC broadcasting college games - there was no ESPN, etc., to allow several games per week televised, and NO ONE dared play on Thursday unless it was a holiday. Most of the Iron Bowls from that era are going to be coaches tapes and highlight videos.

Hello!

I have a question for Simon or anyone in the know -

Is there any kind of (during the) season DVD package available through the school or anyone else for the upcoming 2008 season? I keep thinking there is something where you'll receive the prior week's game on DVD after each week. You pay for the entire season and it's around 300$... is this only possible at the end of the season?

Hopefully I made some sense. If anyone knows please enlighten me.

Thanks, Nolan

The 1971 Iron Bowl was televised on ABC. Both teams undefeated, ranked in the top 5, the barn with their heisman qb Pat Sullivan and star wr Terry Beasley. The Italian Stallion ran wild on them in a 31-7 beat down.

The barn was on probation for most of the 70's, otherwise a few more might have been televised.
