Bama getting no respect

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

You haven't heard? The Pac 12 is the best conference in college football this year, the most competitive. Regardless of it not being true, the narrative was set in September.
Bama would have been better off losing to Tennessee instead of Texas. We would have a conference loss but would actually be in a better position. How did it come to this?

You are correct. We are at this point because there haven't been the upsets that usually happen. And the Pac 12 is amazing....think that narrative got a push because it's dissolving after this year.

If FSU wins and Texas wins......it won't matter what we do unless we beat Georgia 59-0.

It would be Bama's best interest for Texas to lose. Especially if FSU, Washington and Michigan remain undefeated.

All we need is FSU to lose and we get in. If we beat UGA. Texas likely won’t lose.

If it was Oklahoma that Texas was playing. I could see them possibly losing. As for FSU, if Rodemaker doesn't play and they start a true freshman. It will be interesting to see if FSU defense can pull it out. Defenses win ball games.

SHORT VERSION:
BCS computers don't hold Press Conferences (BCs don't hold PCs)
AP and UPI didn't, either.

SELMA VERSION:
I interrupt this post to remind you that even in those "good old poll" days that those of us who were there all shook our heads in disbelief at some of the rankings....

Alabama would not be ANY higher than 7th in the AP and MIGHT POSSIBLY be 8th in the UPI/Coaches poll. We'd PROBABLY be ahead of Oregon based on schedule and the implosion of the Pac-12.

Even the BCS modern rankings have us at 8th.

So could we drop this 100% incorrect notion that "if we just had the old systems, Alabama would be right there."

No. We. Wouldn't.

If this were 1991 and Michigan wins today, it would set up two unbeatens in the Rose Bowl (Michigan vs Washington)...and lock out Florida State, Texas, and Alabama. If UGA beat us today, you'd have back and forth across the country and UGA fans fearing that beating Ohio State (because that's who they would play...unless they wound up playing FSU) in the Sugar Bowl would be enough to three-peat...and rooting for Washington to beat Michigan.

If this were 2002, all a win today would do for us is clear out UGA from a three-peat and Michigan and Washington would (again!) play for the championship. If UGA won then UGA and Michigan would play for the national championship and the UW fans would be screaming "injustice," particularly since UW would have the much tougher SoS.

Despite the constant rage about the CFP committee - rage justified only because they pick the convenient argument for the occasion - the brutal truth is that without a CFP and four-team playoff, today's game would mean everything for UGA and ZIP for us unless Texas, Michigan, Florida State, AND Washington (or 3 of the 4) all lost.

All this tells me is the current ranking system is every bit as flawed as the previous one(s). There is simply no metric that supports having as many as 7 teams ranked ahead of Bama, period.

If we lose to UGA, I hope meatchicken runs the table and is stripped of its title by the nzaa. Im going to go take a shower now.

I want FSU to lose only because I want Texas , Bama , Michigan, and Washington in the playoffs. I want Texas , Avenge The Loss!
On a side note, Texas fans I know wants to play Bama , they feel then things come full circle and they can cast off whatever bad mojo they picked up in 2009.

Well, OKST can’t stop Texas at all, this game is getting ugly. Our only hope is an FSU loss or it won’t matter. This committee has made it clear they will not put a 1 loss Bama ahead of a 1 loss Texas, no matter who Bama beats. H2H is all that matters to them.
