Bama OL vs. LSU DL

tennersee ran the ball against lsu. If they had a little more depth maybe could have faired better. I think we can run put 8 in the box we can pass. We don't have Julio but we have many capable recievers. So no one man is dangerous all of them are....pick your poison lsu...

I too see a slight advantage for Bama here, and it should start to manifest itself in the second half. When we run, I predict we will attack the very middle of the LSU D--we will not be able to run east/west against their speed. We force them to rotate bodies up front at a regular pace and rely on YAC yards, which we are excellent at getting, to advance the ball.

For what it's worth, we rotate eight d-linemen throughout the game. Starting in the first quarter. So no need to worry about forcing us. :)

wouldn't surprise me if the game comes out nothing like any of us think. when teams of this caliber play anything can happen. i don't think we'll see a blowout either way, but i'd be no more surprised by a 45-42 score as i would 13-10.

We actually rotate at the same rate. It's different because of the 3-4, as opposed to Chavis' 4-3...

And I haven't spoken with an LSU fan yet that, while they're beating their chests about being 10 deep on the front 4, gets our deep LB corps is in the same vein as their D-line rotation. Particularly because of the role our OLB's play - with their hands down against a 2 WR offensive set.

ETA: Fishead "gets it." I'm guessing others do to but are conveniently leaving it out of the pre-game discussion. ;)

We most know that, but most of them do not understand the differences between the 4-3 and the 3-4...

UT gave Bama all we could handle for a half as well.....

My goodness that is bold!! Didn't SA run for like 296? That was crazy... Here's to that happening again!
I think I will be surprised if either offense gets 296 total, much less by one person. Both of these teams will be ready to play come Saturday. I sure hope Trent goes crazy in this game, but LSU has a very good defense. As usual, I think it will come down to which team's players make the most plays and which team makes the fewest mistakes. It should be a classic matchup.

I can wish for it though, right!

our O-line out-weighs their D-line by 40 lbs per man. Sure they're speedy, but as Trevor Matich on ESPN broke it down, speed is somewhat negated when we insist on running right down your throat. We're not a spread team....lsu's speed would be more apt to throttle the spread because of that speed. When you run it right at them, size and power become more important. Trevor showed multiple clips of uf and ut loading the box with 8 men, and TR running right over or through them. Speed is great, speed is fantastic.....but size and power aren't to be overlooked; and I think many ARE indeed overlooking it.

It's no secret that TR will have a huge target on his back for this game. I think it will be like Ingram's Junior year, where the opposing defense keyed on him and changed their play and alignments when he was in the game. When TR came in (last year), he had much more success than Ingram. I look for the same thing this year, with the LSU defense keying on TR and possibly letting their guard down a little on #42 and him making them pay. The OL vs. DL battle will be epic, and I am sure we will have a tough time running the ball in the early part of the game. I think Lacy will surprise a lot of LSU players and fans.

Didn't TR get hurt early in the lsu game last year?

I mostly meant throughout the entire year, MI seemed to have tougher sledding when running b/c he was the guy that other teams game-planned for. Can't remember when TR got hurt last year - I remember the goal line play, but I forget when in the game it happened...

EDIT: looks like the injury happened early in the 2nd quarter...

I gotta say....I'm starting to really focus on this DL v OL matchup, and I really like our chances of running the ball. I think we'll have good success.

Conversely, I don't know what to think of their OL vs our DL
