Strange. My credit card was charged (I got 4 tickets) but no email from the University.
Our ticketing department is and always has been the pits.
Seriously? Think about what they do... they manage over 700,000 home game tickets plus another 30,000 Georgia Dome tickets and 45,000 road tickets... not to mention the SEC Championship, Bowl Game and other sport tickets... Each one gets sent to an individual owner on the same day. While I've heard about folks having issues waiting or not being there when the UPS guy came I RARELY if EVER hear about folks who don't get their tickets.
They do all this while politely and professionally dealing with 50,000 donors who call wanting to know where their tickets are and another 20,000 people wanting to know if they're ever going to get tickets. They handle an endless number of seat change requests quietly and professionally somehow keeping nearly all of us satisfied year in and out.
TicketMaster charges somewhere in the range of $10 PER TICKET to cover a similar service. That's ABOVE face value of the college ticket. Our staff keeps this cost to an absolute minimum... in fact, if you knew how little the university spent there you'd be absolutely astonished. I would wager a guess that there's more than one single piece of training equipment in the new facility that costs more than we spend on the ticket office over 2 years OR MORE.
I'd love for you to meet some of these incredibly hard working and amazingly underpaid individuals and tell them they're the pits.
And, full disclosure, I DO NOT work in the ticket office, nor does any member of my family or my friends. But I know the complexities of the industry quite well and have worked on some of the behind-the-scenes systems enough to know how they work.
