Looking at the bowls that Bama can go to, I see no way they fall to the Peach . USC lost Sat. and Bama travels well and bowl selection commitees know that. And the Cotton is not a guarantee either. Bama already ahead of GA. in the BCS and another loss for them could push Bama pass the them. What do you guys think? Just putting that out there.

1. LSU- Sugar
2. Auburn- Capital 1 Bowl
3. Georgia- Outback
4. BAMA- Cotton Bowl
5. South Carolina- Music City Bowl
6. Florida- Independence Bowl
8. Tennessee- Blue-Gray Classic

Music City vs. Independence

Most likely, the SEC representative to the final bowl spot (which appears to be Florida in all projections) will go to the Independence Bowl instead of the Music City Bowl. The Music City bowl was rewarded with an SEC team last year (us) when there was a lack of SEC-bowl eligible teams (the Independence Bowl got the shaft); this year, with another year of less-than-8-SEC-bowl eligible teams, the Independence Bowl would get an SEC team over the Music City Bowl (leaving the Music City Bowl to fill its empty slot with an at large team from C-USA or ACC).

Logic will dictate this mainly for two reasons: 1) It's fair that way, and 2) the SEC office would like to keep its bowl ties, and keeping it current tie-ins happy is the easiest way to do that. But then again, logic rarely wins out, so who knows?!?

tennessee could have made this easier by winning, but why count on ucheat to do anything when they are needed to so something positive.

Why would you rather play in a lower bowl in an inferior destination? I don't see any advantage to Cotton over Outback.

Have you ever been to Dallas on January 2nd? Believe me, as someone who lived in Dallas for 11 years, you'd much rather be in Tampa than Dallas!

Projections taken from SI.com

Outback

Projected opponent--Michigan

Would be a pretty good matchup. Good appeal for both teams, last meeting was a good game (except for the part where we lost).

Cotton

Projected opponent--Texas Tech

Strong offense v a strong defense. They're defense isn't that physical, which gives our offense a fighting chance. Appealing just to see how the Tech offense fares against an SEC defense.

Peach

Projected opponent--Florida State

Between our OL and FSU's penchant for cheap shots, by the end of the first half, we'll be scraping Brodie off the turf with a spatula.

Personally, I'd like to see us in the Cotton Bowl as well. I'm not sure how the Outback Bowl is ahead in prestige now anyway. The Outback has its advantages of course, but I'm just traditional and would love the Cotton.

I know that the ncaa has made the Outback bowl the higher bowl than the Cotton bowl, but I think that is just silly. The Cotton bowl has always been the more prestigous bowl and should have been the 4th BCS game instead of the Fiesta. I would rather be in the Cotton bowl.

I really don't care which bowl game we go to, just hope we go to win.
The only thing that would make me happier than winning our bowl game is UT losing to UK this Saturday. I'd be grinnin wider than a jackass eating briars thru a barbed wire fence. It would make this entire season a winner for me, just to see those arnge stumphumpers lose and drop to 4-7. UT is so close to firing phat fil right now, but I think that would put the icing on the cake. Sic 'em 'cats!

The NCAA did not make the Outback higher than the Cotton. It all has to do with contracts and payouts. The SEC negotiated with the bowl to determine which pick they get. The Cotton Bowl is more important to a Big 12 team (pick #2) than to an SEC team (pick #4 or 5).
