A lot of people saying the Harris will be released at 2 ET instead of being held for the BCS show.

Re: BCS Computer Rankings (as they are released)

With the Coaches poll now confirmed, and assuming for the time being that the Staples tweet about Wolfe is accurate, we have a .9485 to .9268 lead in the Coaches' poll and a .9300 to .9500 deficit in the computer poll. If we earn at least 2690 Harris points (more accurately, no more than 4 Harris points less than OSU - my numbers match Palm), we're in.

In the Coaches, we lost 0.8505% from last week's total (1399 compared to 1411 last week). If similar losses are seen in Harris, we'll drop from 2756 to 2733. That means to drop below 2690, an additional 21-22 Harris voters would have to flip their votes, on top of the 11-12 I expect. Not likely.

It's looking good. 2690 and we're in.

Of course if the Staples tweet proves inaccurate and we don't get a second #2 computer ranking, it's going to be an extremely close race.
I would lay my money on Staples, it's possible but I just don't seeing him tweeting inaccurate info this late in the game...

I am not at all impressed with the Big 12 or Ok State's schedule.
i didn't say i was impressed with their scedule either. but all this subjectivity is what i'm talking about. we alabama fans will always argue that our competition was better, and the okie state fans will always argue that theirs was better. we all look like fools because neither case will ever be proven to be true or false.

Penn State and UF were far more dangerous teams when Alabama played them than they were at the end of the year.

I think that most of UF's collapse can be traced back to the physical beating that Florida's skill players took.

Re: BCS Computer Rankings (as they are released)

We're 11-1 and have had a great year against a crappy conference - admit it. If it bites us in the rear end because our schedule wasn't very impressive, there''s nothing we could have done about that except beat LSU when we had the chance. I'm not going to stress over who votes for whom all day. I know one thing - at the end of the day we're either going to the BCSNCG, or to the Sugar Bowl to face a good team. Either way, i'm excited that i'm going to get to see another Alabama game this season. All this Mythical National Championship mess is like a Miss America contest - merely politics and posturing. I'm still not sure how good LSU is. Their offense at times is horrible. Georgia could have had them down 24-0 early in the 2nd quarter yesterday. When we decide to go to a playoff system, and git rid of all these mundane bowls where 6-6 teams get "rewarded" for their wonderful season, i'll then pay attention to all this BCS nonsense.
Yeah cuz we all know teams like boise deserve a shot for the NC...????? Got an idea,we'll let Bama play in the sec against great teams and even schedule one great national OOC game(like Michigan next year) and then we'll let Boise play diddly and let them have a shot for the BCSCG...makes sense?????
Playoffs will only work (fairly since it seems that is what people are somehow trying to get) if you have a master scheduler and that MS will schedule EVERYONES games. So that everyone will have an equal SOS (which of course would be figured using computers, ala the BCS system)based on the games that were played last year and the opponents win/loss. So there would be no need for Conf championship games or really even conferences.

This is not the Nfl, these players DONT get paid to get hurt or to play 50 games just so we as fans can bicker about something else. If they get hurt their careers and lives are changed. The wear and tear on Bama this year has been massive. You wanna add at least 3 more games to them? And lets not fool ourselves, as soon as the 5th team in a 4 team playoff complains that they got screwed and should be in, 4 more teams will be added.

Here is another good summary to what everyone has been saying. It looks good for Bama, so far....

This is how the BCS standings as we know them look, based on those two assumptions:
TeamCoachesHarrisComputer 1Computer 2Computer 3Computer 4ComputersBCS
LSU1.0001.00011111.001.000
Alabama0.948?23330.930.939
Oklahoma St.0.927?32220.950.938
The final BCS column is computed solely on the basis of the Coaches' Poll and computer poll components. What this essentially means is that whoever ends up second in the Harris Poll will play LSU for the national championship. Keep in mind too that this is a worst-case scenario for Bama in the computers (the top and bottom ranks for each team are thrown out). Each additional No. 2 vote in the computers extends Bama's slim lead.

Re: BCS Computer Rankings (as they are released) - when adding , check your DATES!

What the best place for timing to get the Harris Poll?
Harris is normally released when the final weekly BCS comes out. However some folks (Erin Andrews, etc) say it will be released at 2 est. So about 7 minutes from now. Harris has a website but I'm sure the media and someone on Tidefans will have it first.

Re: BCS Computer Rankings (as they are released)

If anyone is interested here is an OSU board. They are running the numbers too and don't like their odds.

http://www.orangepower.com/forums/osu-sports-forum.4/
Yeah, they are hoping that they win 5 of the 6 computer polls, which would make it very hard for Bama to win the Harris poll by a wide enough margin to get in. If they win 5 of the 6 computer polls, we would need to win the Harris poll by 53 points - which translates to getting 84 of 115 2nd place votes.
